ABOUT SAGAB COLLEGE

The Proprietress/CEO of the school, Dr. (Mrs) Beauty Obodo while talking about Sagab, College said the school has been able to make impact in the society and the lives of the next generation. She said, “Sagab has produced so many great people in the society and they have been contributing their own quota towards the progress of this country Nigeria and even abroad. We have produced so many doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers, tech-savvy individuals and by the grace of God, the school had the 2nd best aggregate in Waec in the May/June 2015 WASSCE in Lagos State and was honoured by the examination body on December 1st, 2016 at the Multipurpose Hall WAEC International Office, Ikeja, Lagos with the WAEC Endowment Fund Prize. This award took place during the 54th Annual Meeting of the Nigeria National Committee of West African Examination Council. By the grace of God, we have been working hard to beat the 2015 record and we know  that very soon, God will grant us our heart desires. We strive for the best and work for excellent performances without any form of manipulation. Our external results have been on point. Our students gain admission with ease into higher institutions of learning, both in Nigeria and abroad. We are never afraid when they go for external exams because we know that by the grace of God, they will always come out tops. We pray as though we are not working and we work as though we are not praying. That is how we have been able to churn out successful graduates that are doing well in their fields. The unique thing about Sagab College and Sagab Montessori Nursery and Primary School is that Sagab is built on some core values which  are the Fear of God, Hard Work, Discipline, Obedience, Integrity and Excellence. These form the basis of our day-to-day operations as a school. We believe in excellence in all areas of life with particular emphasis on academic excellence. Our goal is to train students to go beyond the limits set by others and continue to improve on their best, while our mission is to provide  qualitative education in it’s highest standard, leading to self actualization of the unique potentials of the individual in a dynamic society. We believe in a total child hence we adopt a holistic approach to the education of the child. Our guidance and counseling department is very strong and active in providing good moral coaching for students and pupils aside from the  well- equipped  laboratories and other facilities that aid learning. We have so many programmes and co-curricular/extra-curricular activities that ensure that any child that passes through Sagab comes out with excellence. Sagab College and Montessori is a Christian school, notwithstanding, we have a lot of Muslims attend our school, for example, the current Assistant Head Boy of the school is a Muslim. We try to focus on the primary aim of the school which is academics not on our religious differences. Sagab College is 17 years today and Sagab Montessori Nursery and Primary School is 7 years.

Sagab Schools have had the privilege of hosting several dignitaries at her landmark events, such as convocation ceremonies and foundation laying/dedication of several projects of the school amongst whom are  His Excellency and Her Excellency, Prince and Princess Abiodun Ogunleye, former Deputy Governor, Lagos State (2010),  Pastor Mrs Folu Adeboye (Mummy G.O) of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (2011), Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu (2012) to mention but a few.”

GIFTS GALORE TO MARK ANNIVERSARY

Today, on getting to the venue of the event, one thing was evident, the whole school was in a celebration mood! The venue was well-decorated with two big canopies and the students and pupils were neatly dressed in their school uniforms. It was World Teachers Day on 5th of October, 2022, so, the school used the opportunity of its anniversary celebration  to appreciate both teaching and non-teaching staffs.  Sagab College Ikorodu celebrated its 17th anniversary at its Solomade Station in Ikorodu with students, pupils, teachers and parents. Themed 2022 Sagab College Founder’s Day Praise Concert/Teachers Appreciation Day, the event also doubled as Sagab Montessori Nursery and Primary School’s 7th anniversary.

Featuring sessions of high praise and worship songs from musicians, junior and senior pupils/students of the academic institution, teachers, parents and also the proprietress of the school, the programme also involved the presentation of awards to diligent staffs of the school. There were cash awards for the most punctual staffs, most resourceful, best-in-record-keeping, most value added, etc. There were also long service awards of generating sets for staffs who clocked  5 years, 10 years had standing fridges and 15 years had 30% of their gross annual pay in cheques, etc.

In the middle of the programme, a prayer session was held to guide and transcend the institution into a more prosperous and enhanced educational institution in the years ahead, which according to the proprietress, is the key to the foundation and growth of Sagab College.

She also stated extraordinary and remarkable occurrences indicating  the hand of God in the academic institution for the last 17 years. This according to her,  is the main reason to return all the glory to God and this  was reflected in her worship.

According to her, “we have gone through a lot of challenges and developmental strides over the years, a lot of us, including teachers, parents and even students, have played their roles in shaping this great institution towards the unique state it possesses today. However,  in all, only God has made it possible for us to mark 17 years of growth and absolute transformation from an uncompleted building in a rented apartment to 2 acres of land owned by the school. This can only be God.

“It is all about praise because God has truly been faithful to us for the past 17 years, while acknowledging God, we will also use this  medium to cherish our teachers and staffs. This is a way of letting them know their presence means a lot to us and that they are very important and play a major role in our flourishing as an institution”. The proprietress ensured every staff went home with one prize or the other as birthdays of staffs as well as support staffs were celebrated with gift items. Parents were not left out as they also went home with gifts.

One major aspect of the programme was the giving back to the community project. There was a free medical outreach which ran concurrently with the praise event at the same venue. Health officers were around to treat for free as Sagab engaged them. A total of 100 pairs of free eye glasses were given  out after testing for their sight by trained optometrists. There was also free BP checks as well as blood sugar test and treatment for over 100 individuals for free. All students were also given gifts by the school to make a very happy day as praises rose up to the Almighty God for His faithfulness.

The program ended with the cutting of the anniversary cake by teachers and non-teaching staffs, students and parents.
