Secondary School Student Drowns In Jigawa River

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has confirmed the death of a 15-year-old boy, Usman Kabiru of Walawa quarters in Ringim local government area, after he drowned in a river.

The command’s Public Relations officer, SC Adamu Shehu confirmed the incident to DAILY POST in Dutse.

He explained that at about 10hrs of Monday, “one Usman Kabiru, 15 year of Walawa Quarters, Ringim local government met his death at Katifila river of Ausar Area, Ringim after he together with his friends went the river for swimming.”

Shehu added that the deceased Usman Kabiru is a JSS 3 student at Abdullahi Mai Masallaci Secondary School, Ringim.

He said in the course of swimming, the boy drowned and his body is yet to be recovered.

Shehu said NSCDC personnel and the fire service are working to recover the remains of the deceased.

He therefore urged parents and guardians to take good care of their wards.
