As the late Lagos socialite, Mrs Toyin Abraham, fondly called “Toyin Igbira”, was laid to rest on Thursday, 1st of August, 2019, many shocking facts and revelations have come to open about the late socialite. How she spent her last moment on earth has surfaced as her children, Pastor and members of her clique of friends revealed many things about her at the Christian wake put together by her friends on 31st of July, 2019, at the spacious Adisa Bashua Primary School, Off Adelabu Street, Surulere. Her remains which were deposited in an Ebony casket were laid to rest after a short Christian service that had City People crew in attendance to capture the sober moment as the late Toyin Igbira was laid to rest.
HOW LATE TOYIN IGBIRA STARTED HER LIFE SELLING BULK FISH IN MUSHIN
Contrary to reports flying around that Toyin Igbira started her life as a fabric merchant in Lagos, we can authoritatively tell you that Mrs. Toyin Abraham didn’t start her life as a fabric merchant. The late Madam Oluwatoyinn Monsurat Abraham, who hailed from Okene in Kogi State, was born and bred in Mushin. She spent most of her early years there. Ask people at Mushin Olosha and neighbourhood and you would be told that Toyin Igbira didn’t forget her roots. She had her primary and secondary education in Mushin. According to her 38 years old first daughter, Morufat Olatidebe at the Christian wake, “My mum built her life from scratch. She struggle to set up her “fish” business and built it to sell in bulk in Mushin. Many did not only come to buy in bulk but also in retail as she took her customers as members of her family”. She revealed. It was later that she floated a fabrics business, which she ran till 2017 in Idumota.
HOW SHE BATTLED PANCREAS CANCER FOR MANY YEARS
While the news flew around last week that Mrs. Toyin Igbira had ovarian cancer, City People’s investigation revealed that the claim was far from the truth. While many thought its news that Mrs. Toyin Igbira died of cancer, those who are close to her revealed that the philanthropist never kept it a secret that she was a Cancer patient. Those who know said she prepared her departure from this world and told those who were close to her that she had a deadly disease. One of her younger brothers who read her biography at the wake keep revealed that she had pancreatic cancer and gave up the ghost at a private hospital in Lagos.
HER MANSION ON ADELABU STREET TURNS TO ‘MECCA’
Right from driving through Masha road, through Shitta to Adelabu road to link Adisa Basua, one need not be told that an important event was held at the place. This is because all the roads were filled with exotic automobiles of prominent Lagosians who came to pay a condolence visit to the family of the deceased. Those who know revealed that her mansion painted in white and cream played host to an array of prominent personalities right from July 20th when she breathed her last.

Many don’t know that popular Lagos socialite, who is fondly called Alhaja Monsurat Oloruntoyin Igbira, converted to Christianity before her death. It became public when her burial arrangement indicated that she would be buried according to Christian rites. Prophet (Dr.) Peter Ogunrimade who led Pastor Praise Adeyemi, Pastor Bola Adeyemi, Pastor Chika Akinmolayan and others, eulogised the late Igbira as a woman after God’s heart. It was also revealed that she gave her life to Christ before she breathed her last. It was also revealed that she met Christ after watching a life-changing programme and became very close to Christ when she was admitted into a private hospital. As fulfilled as Madam Toyin Igbira was at 57, one thing that she missed during her life was visiting the holy land of Jerusalem. The pretty woman, who had visited Mecca many times, wished to visit Jerusalem before she breathed her last. Her pastor at Ebony Graveyard revealed that Madam Toyin Igbira had booked to the holy land this month with 3 top Pastors before she breathed her last.
HOW TOYIN IGBIRA BOUGHT HER 20 MILLION NAIRA VAULT LAST YEAR WITH
To say that the late Madam Toyin Igbira planned her last moment well is like stating the obvious. It was revealed that she bought a private Vault at Ebony casket last year when the cancer was said to have relapsed. City People staff who spoke to some of her workers at the burial ground learnt that it took 20 million naira to buy the vault and casket.
HER 12 FRIENDS OF 30 YEARS CALLED ‘ASSOCIATION OF FRIENDS’ HOLD SPECIAL WAKE
If there is anyone who kept her old friends till her last day, is late Mrs. Toyin Igbira. She had her clique of friends called “Association of Friend”, who have been close to her right from her childhood days. Many of her friends are prominent Lagos businesswomen, who also play big in their chosen businesses. They were led to the event by Alhaja Rafi Thomas, the Ceo of Amraf Fabrics. They were fully on ground to support the late Toyin Igbira’s daughters. They spent big to share packaged food among a large number of guests. Other members of the group were Mrs. Keji Atoyegbe, Mrs. Kafayat Lasisi, Basirat Costello, Bola Point 1, Yemisi Kotoye, Seki Kassim, Bimbo Dada Igbira, Rush Baby among others.
