In a remarkable turn of events, Sola Kosoko, a seasoned broadcaster with a career spanning over two decades, recently assumed the position of General Manager at Lagos Television (LTV).

Having unofficially started in 1992 and officially in 1998, Sola reflects on her journey, stating, “I think what worked for me was the fact that I didn’t see being in broadcasting as doing a job; I loved it, I enjoyed it. So it was like finding out your flair and being paid for it.” “Lagos television has to go back to the way it was. We need that glory back so I think having picked me was also strategic.”

Sola’s appointment as the GM of LTV comes at a crucial juncture for the station, and she is already steering the ship towards revitalizing the station. In an exclusive interview with City People, she shared her vision to revitalize LTV, making it a powerhouse of indigenous content.

“I want to bring back the essence of Lagos Television as a hub for quality indigenous programming, in this time and age you find out that a lot of people who are in charge of brands are young minds so if you really want to stay ahead in the business you need to produce things that keeps them glued…. we also need to take care of the youth and then we build a social media platform.” says Sola, her eyes gleaning with determination. Recognizing the power of social media, Sola aims to leverage platforms to connect with the audience and keep LTV at the forefront of the industry. She envisions a gradual but impactful transformation, promising viewers a return to the golden era of television entertainment that once captivated hearts.

One of the key changes on Sola’s agenda is the revival of the beloved “Marathon Entertainment,” creating content that not only captivates viewers but also generates revenue to sustain the station. Sola is determined to revive classics, reinstate game shows, and focus on the children’s belt, to cater to diverse viewers interest.

Despite the challenges posed by LTV’s status as a government-owned establishment, Sola is determined to bring the station back to its former glory. “We are working on it, and you are going to be seeing a lot of changes,” she assures, radiating confidence.

Sola Kosoko’s appointment as the GM of Lagos Television marks a promising chapter for the station. She emphasizes, “I have known that station for over 25 years. I know how it has metamorphosed, so I know what it needs.” Her passion for the job, combined with a strategic vision for the future, sets the stage for LTV’s resurgence as a powerhouse of entertainment, resonating with both old and new generations of viewers. The Lagos television is in for a transformation under her leadership, and audiences eagerly await the exciting changes she is set to bring.
