This same time last year, the demise of the popular Lagos businesswoman, Gloria Sunday shocked the whole of Abule Egba and the NBS fan base. The burial ceremony still plays fresh in everyone’s memory.
For this event, all roads led to Nkechi’s house at Blue Stone Treasure Estate, at Ofada Mowe, Ogun State that Sunday. The beautiful compound was decorated in Black and Gold by Party Glam. Vendors like Sips Bistro, Yes We Can Cook, Dj Freeman and others served the event beautifully.
As expected, Nkechi never disappoints. She went from dazzle to shines and shimmers. For this event, she exhibited the beauty of the Afican print (ankara). For her first appearance, she stepped out in an all shades of green ankara. Her iro and buba looked simple with its beautiful stones dazzling as she made her way to the tent. Her gele was the latest gele trend in town.
For her 2nd outfit, she again stepped out in an all shades of blue Ankara. The dress had golden trimmings and fringes. Her third outfit was an all stoned maxi dress with purses to match.
Just like her activities at the burial last year, Nkechi’s younger sister Jennifer Sunday was up and doing during the event. She ensured everyone was well served and comfortable, including her sister. She was always ready to held to the call of her sister and their strong bond came to play all through the event, as they kept watching out for each other.
Even as the rain poured during the burial ceremony of Madam Gloria Sunday, last year, Pencil G stood his ground and entertained guests. This year, Pencil G again stood strong by the 2 sisters ensuring that the event was a happy memory for them.
With Nkechi Blessing, there is always glam and cheers. For this event, celebrities like Zainab Bakare and Kemi Taofeek were present. Important guests like Mr Shittu, Mr Onatunji and others graced the event.
Everyone familiar with Mama Nkechi Blessing’s pub will know the importance of new and upcoming artistes to her. Pere City always had its hands wide open to entertain upcoming artistes to showcase their talent. So for this event, Meebe and Temini stormed the stage. It was the spark of the evening, as all photographer’s had their cameras flashing and feets dancing.
The event ended with Boye Best and his band boys playing on the lit up stage. Of course, Nkechi Blessing kept on dancing while guests flocked around her to show her love.
After the main event, there was an after party where Nkechi distributed sex toys to her female guests and the social media was agog with the noise.
Expectedly, many bloggers criticised her for doing that. But Nkechi says she does not care about all the criticisms that her action attracted. Why did she decide to stir up controversy at the party by distributing sex toys? Was it deliberate, City People asked her. “Actually I did that after the main remembrance was over”, she explained. “As you know the DJ started playing for the after party…My only mistake was that I didn’t acknowledge the fact that it was time for after party!!! I didn’t even know people will drink so much panadol ontop my own headache…She’s my mother and not theirs.”
How did she also take the backlash that followed and all the social media buzz about her recent relationship? “I seriously don’t care…I have gone past that stage since!!!”
But how did she feel with this successful hosting of her mum’s 1st year remembrance? “I was happy with how everything went. I feel really blessed because I know my prayers have been answered after going to the streets to share food for 200 people!!!
So, what sort of a person is Nkechi? Has she been misunderstood? “Definitely yes,” she responded “Many don’t know me…A lot of people judge me from what they read on social media. Those who are close to me know I am nothing like what they see online…But its ok. It’s cool…I won’t waste time proving myself!!.
