Superflux denies printing ballot papers for the state and urges people not to tarnish the reputation of Ogun SSG, their company

by Reporter

Superflux Nigeria Limited, a prominent security printing company, has strongly denied accusations that it was commissioned by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to print ballot papers for the recently concluded 2023 general elections and subsequently showed partiality towards specific candidates. The company has deemed these allegations as baseless and uncivilized.

The company strongly disapproves of being accused of facilitating money laundering and misusing COVID-19 funds. These allegations are clearly the work of troublemakers and slanderers who are determined to damage the company’s reputation among its many customers, as well as that of its former Director, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, who now serves as Secretary to the Ogun State Government.

The company stated that their response was necessary to protect the trust of the public and their valued partners who have come to know and respect the company’s longstanding integrity and excellent reputation.

The Managing Director of the company, Gabriel Okwonko, has signed a statement to address a dangerous rumor circulating that the company used COVID-19 funds for their own benefit. The statement clarifies that the company actually donated millions of naira to different beneficiaries during the pandemic, as part of their commitment to corporate social responsibility.

According to a statement, an amount of twenty million naira was donated to Ogun State. However, the statement clarifies that some individuals manipulated the transaction to make it appear as if the money was sent from the state’s funds to the company. The statement expresses confusion as to why those who oppose the company’s former director would spread such false information for the purpose of blackmail.

The following statement was issued in response to false allegations being spread by anonymous individuals:

“To address these false allegations, which are being cowardly peddled by faceless individuals, we would like to state the following:

“Our Company is extremely mindful and jealously guards the responsibility the nature of our business puts on us as a corporate entity in the interest of our esteemed customers and the general public.

We want to make it clear that our company has never and will never be involved in any form of money laundering or illegitimate fund transfer. The false allegations circulating are completely baseless and malicious.

It is deeply concerning and surprising to hear the baseless accusation that our company held onto ballot papers from the 2023 elections to advantage a specific candidate. We want to make it clear that this allegation is completely untrue.

Just to clarify, our company did not receive a contract from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which is responsible for conducting elections in Nigeria, to print ballot papers for any elections during the 2023 electoral season.

We did not print any ballot papers for Ogun state, so the opportunity to produce extra papers and feed a parallel channel did not arise. The claim by some media outlets that we did produce extra papers is baseless and false and seems to have sinister motives.

It is with confidence that we declare Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, our former director, resigned in June of 2019 to pursue other interests. Our Board of Directors accepted his resignation and expressed their support for his future endeavors.

We strongly reject any claims that we have been involved in diverting COVID-19 funds. These funds were intended to provide support and assistance during a global pandemic that had devastating impacts on lives and livelihoods. Such accusations are baseless, irrational, and completely untrue. They are also highly offensive and inappropriate.

Our company is committed to fulfilling its corporate responsibility, even in times of low business activity caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. We have actively supported communities and institutions in their fight against the virus through various projects, interventions, and donations. On April 6, 2020, we made a contribution of N20 million to the Ogun State COVID-19 Funds. Regrettably, certain individuals with malicious intent chose to disregard this fact in their reporting. As a socially responsible and compassionate company, we will continue to support those affected by the pandemic to the best of our abilities..

“In the same vein, another two million one hundred thousand naira was donated in the same manner and for the same purpose but different beneficiary on April 9, 2020.

All donations made by us were naturally debited in our accounts but, in their mischief, the fake news peddlers presented them as collections/credits.

“We find objectionable, the intrusion into our privacy and we are resolved to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to book and our legal advisers have been briefed accordingly; and surely appropriate steps will be taken against these criminals.

We would like to express our gratitude to our valued customers for their unwavering support. However, we must also address the issue of false accusations being spread by certain individuals. We strongly urge these individuals to stop circulating these baseless claims. We will not hesitate to take legal action to protect our business, reputation, and integrity.
