A teenage cobbler, who allegedly stabbed another teenager to death with his needle, was on Friday in Lagos remanded in police custody on the orders of an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The 16-year-old boy is facing a charge of murder.
His plea was not taken and the Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Ajibade remanded him in police custody and adjourned the case until Oct. 22 for a mention.
Earlier, Police Prosecutor Maria Dauda said the accused committed the offence on Sept. 26 at 2.30 p.m. at School Gate, Lakowe, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
He told the court that the teenager murdered another teenager, Tobi Odeyemi, 15, by stabbing him in the chest with a thick iron needle used in sewing shoes.
“The accused had accosted a friend of Odeyemi and accused him of failing to pay for the slippers he sewed for him.
“Odeyemi joked about it and it angered Shuiabu who brought out the needle and stabbed the accused on the chest,” Dauda said.
The offences contravened Section 222 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
