At the last Headies Award held at Eko Hotel in Lagos, Teni stole the show. She won 4 awards. Many were pleasantly surprised when she was called and she came out herself to receive her awards in person. Many had thought she would send a representative to pick it up for her because she does not live in Nigeria. On account of her success at the award, Teni is now the most sought after artiste in Nigeria.
Because Teni is not based in Nigeria, it came as a surprise to everyone when she jumped on stage with her lovely blue on blue jean shirt and trousers to receive her awards alongside Dr. Dolor, her manager and friends. Don’t forget Teni is our part-time comedian who keeps her fans glued to her Instagram page. After she received her award and also performed, she called Mike, the Big Brother Naija Season 4 contestant on stage just to tell everyone that she loves him and that he was his favourite in the house. Teniola is one artiste that is loved by all. She sings everything, she does live band too. Not looking at her plus size she carries her body so well and keeps you admiring her.
Though her real name is Teniola Apata she is better known as Teni the Entertainer. She is a songwriter, drummer and entertainer who hails from Ekiti State. Teniola is the younger sister of another singer, Niniola. She attended Apata Memorial High School and has a degree in Business Administration from American Intercontinental University but she said in an interview with Punch that it took her 7 years to graduate and her younger sisters completed their studies before her.
Her father is the late Brigadier General, Simeon Olaosebikan Apata, a military man who fought for the Nigeria army under ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo during the Civil War. Her father is also the founder of Apata Memorial High Schools. Though she grew up in a polygamous family, they showed love and support to each other. Although their father had many female children, three of them, Doyin Sweet,Niniola and Teniola (Teni), have over a short period etched their names into the Who is Who of the Nigerian entertainment and society industry. Teni and Niniola both started singing at a tender age, Niniola was inspired by her classmates and she went on to join the school Choir then became the 3rd runner up at Mtn Project Fame which shot her to the limelight. She went out of control when she dropped her hit Maradona.
Since then she has been the talk of the town. Talking about Doyin a popular fabric seller who is at the top of her game on Instagram with over 37.6k followers, Doyin happens to be one of the biggest and best Fabric sellers in Lagos. Teniola is currently one of Nigeria’s fastest rising musician’s breaking new grounds in the music industry. She started her journey into music when she was 2 years of age. She used to play drums for some former governors of Lagos State, including Mohammed Buba Marwa, Bola Tinbun and Babatunde Fashola, when they were in office. Then she started doing music officially in 2016 with the release of her first song AMEN.

Teniola started her music journey officially in magic fingers records, a record owned by Shizzi but then moved later moved to Dr. Dolor Entertainment in 2017, she has since then been making waves in the music scene after she released the hit single Fargin in September 2017. Since then all her songs have been hits back to back.
She has also bagged tops awards like Headies ROOKIE of the year 2018, Nigeria Entertainment Award for MOST PROMISING ACT and Soundcity MVP awards BEST NEW ACT and recently won big at the 13th Headies by bagging over four awards home. Teniola is currently doing too well, she has been dropping singles getting features from different Artistes like Brodashaggi, Shizzi, Phyno, Rexxie, Dr Dolor and many more. Do you know that Teniola wrote the song ‘Like Dat’ for Davido which was a hit in Nigeria? Writing this song for Davido also added to her coming to the limelight. Teniola gained wide acceptance in 2018 since she debuted on the Nigeria music scene. All the songs dropped by her last year were all a blast and they gained widespread acceptance and show organizers within and outside the country. Her self-uniqueness is quite commendable and she happens to be very deep with her lyric and delivery. Teniola has a brain of an older person and this makes her songs very interpretable. We are not sure Teniola was not ready for this fame because the whole thing came within the blink of an eye even before she was done with school; her song was heard in different parts of Africa and America. She said the inspiration for her song titled Wait, from her father’s death and it also tells the story between her dad and mom, when her mom was crying and wishing he could have stayed back. She said on Instagram that she recorded Uyo Meyo for her graduation ceremony because of what she had to go through before she finished school. She said it was really a big deal for her on her graduation, this song means LORD I HAVE WATCHED OTHER PEOPLE WIN NOW ITS MY TIME. She stated that she did the song for herself and everyone who hopes to achieve something. Fargin which gave her the big break was an inspiration from stories she heard about young girls being harassed up and down, she did the song to send a message to all the randy men out there.
Teni recently went on tour in the Uk. Many music promoters are rushing to have Teni on their shows because all the shows she headlines are sold-out concerts. Talking of her new song Billionaire, this song hit 1 million views on its first day of release and it’s currently the number one song in Nigeria and the most played song in Ghana. She is also very big on Instagram with over 2.3 M followers.
Teni is supposed to be a part-time comedian, her level of entertaining her fans is just something else. She comes up every day with different content to make her fans happy and stay glued to her page. Her love and activeness on Instagram started for a while now, she started uploading videos of herself freestyling. Teni is preparing for her concert this December at Eko Hotel.
