This word is a classy word used to describe a spinster from the upper echelon in society. Certainly, her standards are very high, her language impeccable and her dress code so stylish glaringly declaring affluence. Coupled with the fact that she attends top society parties, functions and conferences, which is a factor that assures connectivity with the high and mighty .
These attributes are forms of save guarding her elevation and ensuring that she never falls out or encounter the undesirables in the Society. In essence the resultant quality is to maintain the blue blood or a social group so compact that any spill over or vagrant is frowned upon or eventually denied access to the status quo.
Most male counterparts from the lower classes can immediately recognise the do not touch sign . Advisedly quickly move on to avoid unnecessary diagnosis of their family tree or any form of humiliation. The debutante is present in all societies, emanating from the class graduation or the caste system. The strongest overtime, is traceable to India,also prevalent in Britain based on the continuous existence of the Royal family and lastly believe it or not in some societies in Africa. In Igbo land for example we have the Osu caste , who are relegated as the untouchables, even till date. The validation is enabling the fact that a young woman prepared to be well turned out , virtuous and respectable are all possible attributes worthy of emulation. So it’s not surprising that the qualities observed in this class of women are adopted across the classes. Which means unless you are overly careful or you take on bifocal spectacles most of the women of the lower classes or not so desirable backgrounds end up with the best of husband’s based on the unforseen deficiencies demonstrated by uppity women.
A good number of times , the young woman from the top Society for some ignorant mediocre factors are being spoilt , by the presence and availability of domestic assistance . Fundamentals such as basic home training, like cooking, engaging in household chores overtime become negligible. The occasional intervention of finishing school , a system to train young rich women on etiquette and house management is too minor , as it fails to curb the habitual flaw that has become permanent way of life in the home front .
Eventually these young women in spite of sound education, which others might get through scholarship or Divine intervention throws them into contention for eligible husband’s by those termed as inferior. Even when some get lucky and marry right the inherent flaws are too glaring making the husband’s to wander off to attain the ideal and useful wife. Again the privileges end up as limitations, when she is unable to be a go getter and she ends up doing the unsavoury to get money. I have heard it , been said more than once by some unguarded women , the gross statement that says at the end of the day, every woman is a prostitute. A reflection of a warped uncultivated mindset.
For starters, an in-depth look at the Bible describes a wife as a help mate suitable for a man , this implies a partnership not a sex machine. In the same Bible when GOD told a prophet to marry a prostitute , here GOD was showcasing through this the decadence and horrid state of the people. How then can any woman claim this deplorable role as akin to womanhood, unless she otherwise and rightly so requires urgent strong counseling and Divine intervention.
Currently as one observes womanhood generally , it is not unusual to see the intrusion of the distasteful amidst the well brought up young women. Many seem to have thrown caution to the wind . Exhibiting traits that makes many wonder if truly they were born with silver spoon. Basically all the traits of the viscous, if you like shrewd and callous are inherent, fraud is practised audaciously. Surprisingly many are ready to do all it takes even with men to achieve the ultimate or get to a pinnacle , and you find them exhibiting behavioural pattern of the upstart. Obviously the plight of today’s so called upper class is that really overtime the difference has disappeared.
In earnest being shrewd and smart is impressive if that is what it translates in to, in the same vein the readiness to engage in immorality or even fraud is another flaw entirely. This shows a lack of finesse and a huge discrepancy concerning all that can be seen as exemplary. You find a daughter of a successful Financial CEO dating some noveau riche person based on the fact that she needs relevance or even to build up her father’s empire.
 My concern is how does she even relate , now that is nothing short of prostitution. Eroticism as a form of survival is prevalent and people who have looked up to certain families offer help only from the bedroom. The compromise whereby we see servants on horses and princes on foot has made many susceptible or the willing captives, throwing all the input through parentage into jeopardy.
Perhaps we should look deeply into parenting. The most vital and impressionable is the Mother. For example, I have many women say ultimately every woman is a prostitute. Take for example a girl child overhears her classy mother say , that , if she prods further and makes her mother expatiate, will she end up the better woman. Then you want to find out what precipitated that statement, does her husband make her feel like a mother, Sister a friend or a prostitute. Do you know irrespective of all the millions spent, on that child that singular statement has defiled all she must exude in terms of morals and impeccable virtue. Secondly when we jostle the girl child into unhealthy competition with other women. There was this one time, I was in a relationship and I heard that a relative mother rebuked her daughter challenging her to go out with him or someone like him.
 Many mother’s make that mistake, forgetting that an unaccomplished man today can turn out to be hugely successful in future. In fact we have experienced this many times, when the colourless become the sought after, later in life. Many are not driven to the attainment of healthy relationships and we end up with too many mismatches in our Society today . This amongst many reasons has sufficiently killed the salient virtues in many women.
 The expectation that a woman’s background, lineage or educational background are determinants of a honourable woman has been watered down . From this perspective , virtue itself can and should be traceable to any class but it’ been clearly an element of choice. My suggestion is for many to look for the GOD fearing person, who sees respectability more as a dogma not some casual doctrine. May the word of GOD sanitise, eroding all the defilement in the Mighty Name of my LORD JESUS .
