THE MESSAGE FROM OBA OF OGBALAND

As the year wears out and Nigerians having celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ on December, 25th, 2020 and looking forward to marking the beginning of the new year on 1st January, 2021, the Oba (Eze-Ogba) of Ogbaland and a former Chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Odudu Sir (Dr.) Chukumela Nnam Obi II, OON, DSSRS, AP, JP, has joined other leaders to felicitate with Nigerians on the occasion of this year’s Christmas celebrations and requested that the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ should regenerate the faith and bond of unity among Nigerians as one people and one nation irrespective of their diversity. His eminence who is the current longest-serving monarch in Nigeria, called on Nigerians to cultivate the virtue of love and tolerance regardless of religious, ethnic and political differences. He stressed that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and respect for one another.

He reminded all Christians that the life and times of Jesus Christ depicted peace, love and charity which they must emulate adding that His (Jesus Christ’s) exceptional qualities should be embraced by all and sundry for the sake of national progress.

The Eze Ogba called on Nigerians in general and the people of Ogba in particular to use the Christmas celebration as a period of sober reflection on the numerous challenges facing the country.

The royal father also charged Nigerians to eschew ethnic, religious and political tendencies in all their dealings and work towards building a secured and prosperous nation.

He used this holy season to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to extend his hands to Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area in Rivers State in terms of appointments and siting of projects. He said that since the inception of the present administration his domain which is one of the highest Oil & Gas producing communities in Nigeria has been neglected.  In a related development the Ogba monarch felicitated with the serving Chairman Rivers State Waste Management Agency and founder of Kresdera group of Hotels and Resort Omoku, Brother Felix Obuah, for his award of Hospitality personality of the year 2019 by The Sun Newspapers which he described as an honour well deserved by the great son of Ogba.

The Eze Ogba, who recently celebrated his 80th birthday and 50 years on the throne also rejoiced with Bro. Felix Obuah (Go Round) on his birthday, which was on December 16, 2020, noting that even though he did not mark it in a big way, there was the need for all good Nigerians to stay even in their bedrooms to thank Almighty God for what He has so far done in Go-Round’s life.
