•City People Reveals His Over 30 Year Political Career
Hon. Ladi Adebutu is the PDP Governorship Candidate in Ogun State. And right now he is in the news on account of his rising profile in the political space.
Expectedly so. He is one seasoned politician who has paid his dues. He has been actively playing politics for over 30 years.
He is a politician of high repute; he became a member of the National Assembly in 1992 under the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) platform, when he represented Remo Federal Constituency.
He was a Senatorial Aspirant under the United National Congress Party (UNCP) in 1998, as well as a National Assembly Aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2003, 2007 and 2011 respectively.
He was appointed as Full-Time Commissioner II in the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission in Sept. 2007. In October 2007, he was upgraded to Full-Time Commissioner I within a period of one month because of the zeal he brought to the job.
During his stint at the LGSC, he was instrumental in the appointment, promotion, conversion, upgrading, and training of Local Government workers across the state. He also used his good office to secure employment for Remo sons and daughters in other parastatals and agencies of government.
He was elected as a Member of the 8th National Assembly during the March 28th, 2015 General Elections, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Remo Federal Constituency (Sagamu, Ikenne and Remo North Local Governments), at the House of Representatives, Abuja.
He was appointed the Chairman, House Committee on Rural Development from 2015 to 2019. In 2018, he emerged as the Governorship flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party recognized by the National body of the party for the 2019 general elections but could not contest due to legal disruption peddled by the opposition party and leadership tussle within the party.
On Wednesday, 25th May 2022, he emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial Candidate for the 2023 general elections.
HIS ACTIVITIES AT THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
Hon. (Dr) Oladipupo Adebutu did his best to represent the people of his Federal constituency. He was able to make his voice heard on the floor of the green chamber when moving the several motions during plenary sessions; some of the motions are:
(1) CALL TO SAVE NIGERIA’S AGRO-INDUSTRY FROM IMPORTED PROCESSED GRAINS
Resolved to: (1) Save Sorghum processing industries and Sorghum farmers in Nigeria by re-imposing the ban on importation of malted barley; (2) Imposition of a 10 per cent importation, tax on barley concentrates to discourage importation; (3) Call on the investigation into frequency on government policy changes on import substitution; Wednesday 20th July 2017
2. CALL TO IMPROVE HEALTH CARE SERVICES IN THE RURAL COMMUNITIES:
Resolved to: Mandate the Committee on Rural Development and Healthcare Services to investigate the lack of healthcare facilities and services in rural communities in Nigeria with a view to ensuring adequate provision of affordable healthcare facilities and services in those communities and report back to the house within eight (8) weeks for further legislative action. 3. DELAY IN COMMENCEMENT OF THE NATIONAL RURAL TELEPHONE (NRTP)
Resolved to: Mandate the Committee on Rural Development to investigate the matter with a view to ascertaining the cause(s) of the commencement of the telephony system in the country and report to the House within two (2) weeks.
(4) SIEGE ON OGUN WATERSIDE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BY MILITANTS AND KIDNAPPERS
Resolved to: (I) Call on the Federal Government to deploy security personnel to Ogun Waterside Local Government of Ogun State to secure the lives and properties of the people; (II) Urge the Inspector-General of Police to beef up security in the area by deploying more Police personnel that were equipped to deal with menace; and (III) Mandate the Committee on Special Duties, and Police Affairs to ensure implementation.
(5) CALL FOR PROTEC_ON OF NIGERIA’S INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE FILM-MAKERS:
Resolved to: (I) Urge the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture to (a) Direct relevant agencies to put in place monitoring mechanisms to determine the extent of the problem with a view to mitigating these extraneous influences for the extended protection of our indigenous languages and culture, (b) Ensure policies that will keep our indigenous languages and heritage alive in the creative and intellectual sphere through the medium of indigenous language films, (c) Ensure that adequate protection is given to sector as a means promoting rural dwelling as often the location is set in the rural areas, thereby providing income and recreation; and (II) Mandate the Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values to ensure implementation and report back within eight (8) weeks for further legislative action..
(6) URGENT NEED FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE REHABILITATION/EXPANSION WORK ON THE LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY:
Resolved to: (I) Urge the Federal Government to restart the rehabilitation of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway; (ii) Also urge the Federal Government to through the relevant agencies sustain and monitor its highway maintenance culture in portions yet to be rehabilitated; (iii) Further urge the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), to be more proactive in the situations similar to those of the weekend of Friday 7th August 2015, where it was the norm for motorists to sleep in the traffic gridlock overnight; (iv) Further urge the House to quickly ascertain ways to find priority funding for the on-going Rehabilitation/Expansion of a critical artery to the nation.

He sponsored this bill and it is waiting to be passed into law: A bill for an act to amend the National Film and Censors, 2004, to expand the information and membership of the board to include representatives of the Association of theatre arts and indigenous languages film producers and Practitioners Respectively, for the purpose of promoting and protecting the indigenous Nigerian Languages and Culture from disservice by certain direct to-Home-pay television schemes and for related matters. Short Title as noted in the records: The National Film and Censor Board (Amendment) Bill 2017.

Grading and Construction of culverts in Ogijo area of Sagamu Local government and filling of access roads to Mowe, Redemption Camp area. Grading and Construction of Culverts in Fakale area of Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government. Financing of Free Vocational Center called LADO Empowerment Institute in Ota.
HIS COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTS
For every discerning mind who understands communal relationships and socialization, it is no doubt that Hon. Adebutu is a force to reckon with in the area of community mobilisation and socialisation. His grassroot commitment and love for his community earned him the appointment as the Chairman of the Akesan Day Celebrations Committee in 2007. As the arrowhead of the committee, Hon. Adebutu led a legacy during that edition as he used his connections to raise substantial funds for the development of the community. His social pedigree and monumental commitment to community development earned him

Interestingly, Hon. Ladi Adebutu also has an Islamic background with the name Kamorudeen, given to him by his grandparents; no wonder his gestures to numerous Islamic programs and activities. These gestures and commitments to various Islamic Organizations earned him the Islamic Titles of Balogun Zumurat-Ul-Muminin and Mayegun Adini of Ogun Waterside.
A SPORTS ENTHUSIAST
Hon. Ladi Adebutu is an ardent soccer lover, Proprietor of the LADI ADEBUTU FC; Patron of Remo Football Academy and Ikenne Local Government Football Council.
A loyal fan of the Chelsea FC of England, he has successfully sponsored the first and second editions of Ladi Adebutu Under-20 Football Competition for Youths in the Ogun East District.
Some of the talents discovered during the compeon, Ibrahim Deinde, Ayodele Femi and Udoh Akpan are members of the National under 13, 15 and 17 teams respectively. Udoh Akpan is the First Choice goalkeeper of the Victorious Golden Eaglets at the 2015 Junior World Cup held in Chile.

(9) Construction of Sports Pavilion at Federal Government Girls College, Sagamu. (10) Sponsorship of the annual Babcock University Interdepartmental debate on entrepreneurship. (11) Drilling of Borehole at Orile Oko, Remo North LGA. (12) Construction of Drainage and Canal at Agura, Sabo, Sagamu.
(13) Establishment of Viewing Centers in the 35 wards of the Remo Federal constituency. (14) Donation of N3 million worth of building materials towards the Olofin of Ilisan’s new palace project. (15) Donation of N5 million worth of building materials towards the construcÀÛŸÝon of the Ereke Civic Centre, Ikenne. (16) Construction of Mosque for Nupe Community in Sagamu. (17) He is also instrumental to the completion of the Ode Remo Town Hall while he is playing a leading role in the ongoing construction of the Alaye of Ode Remo’s Palace. (18) Donation of Gymnasium and Block of Toilets to Abeokuta Sports Club.
