Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has rated himself high saying he thinks he’s a good football manager.
The erstwhile Barcelona cum Bayern Munich manager told a press conference while answering questions as regards his side’s Premier League encounter with Crystal Palace.
“There are six [teams], we are just a few points ahead. When we finish our weekend we analyze what is going to happen in the future but nobody knows.”
“Last season we started well, similar to this season. We have less points but I think it was a good season last season for many things. I think I am a good manager. We fight like a normal team. I believe in the quality of the way we play.”
“It is the Premier League. I knew from hearing about the Premier League that every single team can beat the other one. What I saw from Palace against Southampton and Burnley, I showed to my players the chances they created in two games. They have quality now. They are quite similar to West Brom. My players need to know they can lose tomorrow.”
On the ability of his players, Guardiola said; “Gabriel has helped us a lot. He is a top striker – there are a lot of things he can improve. I am excited to help him.”
“It is fantastic for Sergio to be here so long and break the club goalscoring record. It is going to happen. He will get the record.”
When he was quizzed on being in the sidelines for a very long time till the age of seventy like Roy Hodgson, Guardiola said “Definitely not. I promise you. I love golf! But I admire him, a long career always deserves respect.”
“I congratulate Gareth Barry [on his appearances], that is amazing. I love that.”
“I struggle with that all my career. I was in teams where they defended 10 players in the box and attacked on the counter. It has always been like this for nine years as a manager.”
Manchester City are expected to continue their winning streak having garnered 13 points this season from 5 games, winning four and playing just a draw.
