Today is the 50th birthday of top actor, Alesh Onilegbale and obviously he is in a happy mood right now. He recently told Citypeople Online how he feels at 50. Below are excerpts of his interview.
How do you plan to celebrate your 50th birthday?
I will definitely mark it. I can’t celebrate it big because of COVID-19 pandemic. Thursday is my 50th birthday which we planned to celebrate so big but the state of the world couldn’t make it happen but yet I should still observe my golden age without a party. At least celebrate it meaningfully without the party as the coronavirus is still ruling
Tell me about your birthday. How do you plan to celebrate it?
Well as it’s globally an Identified fact Covid-19 actually taken over the entire world that no one can plan or have a social event that would allow more than 20 people so with that I can’t really celebrate my golden jubilee as I desired because initially plan was having K1 on the bandstand and celebrate with high and mighty of the state
Tell me about your career. You have been acting for how long? How many movies? How did you join the caucus?
Well to God be the glory my career has been a successful one that I can’t say but appreciate God almighty for all He has done for me. I had my challenges but with the grace of God I saw I conquered and it’s all a sweet story today
I have been in the industry for 3 decades under the dynamic Odunfa caucus led by Alh Yinka Quadri, Alh Taiwo Al-Hassan Babatunde, Alh Tajudeen Abbey Lanre, Chief Abiodun Jamiu Kakawa.
I have produced lots of movies if am not mistaken over a dozen movies amongst which are: BLLB. (Bose Lo Lose Bo), Omo kan, Ire nwa mi ni temi. The only epic Oba Adegboro, Eleregbe, Ko si asiri; to mention but few and I’ve featured in so many movies by various colleagues.
I joined Odunfa caucus from inception despite I had the grace of being a brother in the hood to Ogogo and Abbey Lanre as we all lived in Ebute Metta, so when Odunfa caucus was formed I wasn’t wanting and to the grace of almighty Allah I was accommodated by all the above mentioned Ogas. So being a member of the caucus actually placed me on a much-advantaged situation which helped me a lot.
I Alesh Rilwan Onilegbale, from the royal lineage of original Lagos. I hail from Isale Eko. A descendant of Ado Shokun Royal Family, that’s the first monarch family of Lagos Island Isale Eko, my own branch is Ogboni Iduntafa also known As ONILEGBALE of Lagos. So I am a crowned prince of Lagos. I was born at Lagos Mainland, Ebute Metta precisely.
I grew up in the same Ebute Metta and lived a greater part of my life in the area. I grew, schooled the elementary stage at Ebute Metta, married in Ebute Metta, started my career and succeeded at it in the same area.
