In a shocking and disturbing turn of events, Mrs. Fatima Umukoro, the proprietress of His Majesty Group of Schools in Sapele, Delta State, has allegedly been murdered by her own son, Emmanuel Umukoro.
The tragic incident, which occurred in the late hours of the night, has left the neighbours in a state of shock and bewilderment. Neighbours and passersby, who spoke to newsmen on condition of anonymity, described the scene as gruesome and horrific.
According to eyewitnesses, the gate of the Umukoro residence was left open around 10 pm, which was unusual. This prompted neighbours and passersby to check on the situation, only to discover fire coming from inside the house with the door left open. Upon entering the house, they found the lifeless body of Mrs. Umukoro, burnt beyond recognition.
A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that Emmanuel Umukoro was seen driving out of the compound around 8:30 pm at a high speed in his mother’s car. This suspicion led to his apprehension by the Nigeria Police Force along Sapele-Warri Road as he attempted to escape to an unknown destination.
The motive behind the alleged murder is still unknown, and the police are yet to make an official statement on the matter. Calls to the Delta State Police PRO for comment were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
This tragic event raises disturbing questions about the state of humanity, parenting, and societal values. How did we get to this point? Is parenting failing? What can be done to correct these abnormalities in our society?
The answers to these questions remain elusive, but one thing is certain – urgent action is needed to prevent such heinous crimes from occurring in the future.
The community is still reeling from the shock of this tragedy, and the family of the late Mrs Umukoro is left to pick up the pieces.
