The University of Ibadan Muslim Graduates Association (UIMGA) held its 2024 annual scholarship award for 20 indigent Muslim students from the University of Ibadan, Lautech, Osun State University, and Bayero University Kano last Sunday, July 28th, 2024, at the Prof. MOA Abdul Islamic Centre, University of Ibadan.
In the 18th edition of the annual awards, twenty students each received a sum of N50,000, totalling N1m. The beneficiaries were presented with cheques by The UIMGA National President, Alhaji Imran AbdulMojeed, and Alhaja Hadrat AbdulAzeez, who represented members of the association in the diaspora from the USA.
Alhaja Hadrat AbdulAzeez and the Chairman of UIMGA scholarship scheme, Alh (Engr) Abdullah Wale Adelakun, advised students to be disciplined and good ambassadors of Islam. Professor Sherifat Aboaba delivered a short lecture titled “Striving for Academic Excellence and Bracing up for the Challenges Ahead” to encourage students to strive towards graduating with good results, while also developing excellent social capital and character. She also noted the need for them to develop entrepreneurial skills to survive, rather than hoping for a white-collar job after graduation.
The association’s National President offered prayers for all donors and members of the association at home and in the diaspora. He advised the students to pay back to society by ensuring active participation in the association’s activities after graduation.
