Unknown gunmen on Thursday night killed a member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly and kidnapped his two wives and a year-old daughter.
Journalists gathered this morning that the lawmaker, Hon. Musa Mante Baraza, was killed in his hometown, Dass, the headquarters of Dass Local Government Area of the state.
A member of the House, Hon. Abdul Ahmed Bura confirmed the incident to Newsmen on the telephone, saying that, “It is true. That is how we heard the sad news of his death.”
Bura also confirmed the kidnapping of the deceased lawmaker’s wives and son, adding that as of this morning, the kidnapped women and child are still with the gunmen at an unknown destination.
The state police command confirmed the incident, adding that investigations are going on to arrest the culprits and rescue the kidnapped women and child.
The police gave the names of the kidnapped wives and daughter as Rashida Musa Mante (40); Rahina Musa Mante (35) and one-year-old Fausar Musa Mante.
They added that four empty shells of live ammunition were recovered at the scene of the crime.
Meanwhile, efforts to speak with the Speaker of the House on the incident so far proved abortive.
