In an exclusive interview with Citypeople reporter, Jamiu Aubakar, Prince Donatus takes me through his journey, the challenges of the Nigerian real estate market, and his vision for transforming the sector. Below are the excerpts:

 

Could you tell us about yourself and your company, Donluxe Homes?

I am Prince Donatus Chukwulo Ofojetu, the CEO of Donluxe Homes, a premier real estate development company specializing in luxury properties and strategic investment opportunities. I come from Nnewi North in Anambra State and grew up in a family of seven. My academic background in Physics sharpened my analytical skills, which have been invaluable in navigating the complexities of the real estate industry. Over the past seven years, I’ve gained exposure to global markets, an experience that has shaped my approach to real estate. My journey has been marked by multiple awards, including recognition as a top sales consultant and accolades for city expansion initiatives. These achievements reflect my commitment to excellence and the communities I serve.

 

What inspired you to venture into real estate?

My journey began as an investor, where I noticed significant gaps in knowledge, innovation, and ethical practices within the industry. Many realtors lacked the expertise to deliver quality services, leading to substandard developments and risky investments for clients. I was inspired to fill these gaps by educating investors, equipping them with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions, and introducing innovative solutions that created lasting value. Real estate became more than just a business; it became a platform to empower individuals and reshape the industry.

How did your personal and professional journey lead to Donluxe Homes?

My journey to founding Donluxe Homes has been one of resilience and faith. Coming from a humble background, I believed that I could create my opportunities through hard work and determination. Financial challenges in my early years taught me resourcefulness and perseverance. After graduating from Delta State University, I worked as a sales representative at a pharmaceutical company but soon realized it wasn’t aligned with my bigger vision. I joined my brother abroad and began conceptualizing Donluxe Homes. Starting as a real estate service for international clients, we gained a reputation for innovation and transparency. Today, we bring that expertise home, bridging gaps in the Nigerian real estate market.


What challenges have you faced as an entrepreneur in the Nigerian real estate market?

The Nigerian real estate market presents unique challenges. Regulatory hurdles, such as unclear property documentation and title disputes, are significant obstacles. Additionally, fraudulent activities and a lack of trust within the industry make clients cautious. To overcome these challenges, we emphasize transparency, client education, and ethical practices. By addressing these issues head-on, we’ve been able to build trust and foster smoother transactions with our clients.

What is Donluxe Homes’ vision and leadership approach?

At Donluxe Homes, our vision is to empower Nigerians, both locally and in the diaspora, to achieve financial freedom through real estate investments. What role does real estate play in Nigeria’s development?
Real estate is a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economic growth. It drives urban development, creates jobs, and improves infrastructure. Real estate investments also promote financial inclusion, contributing significantly to both individual wealth creation and national GDP.

What advice would you give to aspiring real estate entrepreneurs?

Focus on knowledge, integrity, and a long-term vision. Build strong networks, offer value, and prioritize transparency. Be prepared for challenges but remain resilient and adaptable. Success in real estate comes from innovation, patience, and consistently delivering exceptional value to clients.

 

How do you balance professional and personal life as a CEO?

Balancing professional and personal life requires strong time management and prioritization. I delegate tasks to a trusted team and set clear boundaries to ensure I have time for family, personal growth, and relaxation. This balance keeps me focused and energized.
