- Beautiful Actress, SHUSHU ABUBAKAR Tells City People
Shoo-Shoo Ah-boo-bah-car, born Sukurat Tolulope Abubakar, on February 2nd, 1980, is an Actress, Model and also works with a Real Estate firm. Her screen debut was a Sickle cell-themed Netflix Movie in 2020 titled STRAIN, where she played the lead role. The movie got her recognition and nominations such as Best Actress in a Black Film- International Black & Diversity Film Festival Canada – 2021 and Best Actress in a leading role (English) – Best of Nollywood – 2021.
Shushu Abubakar who is a native of Ikare Akoko, Ondo State, was born and raised in Ogun State. After her youth service, she got a job at Globacom as a Call Centre Representative in 2011. She left in 2012 to become Head of Call Center Operations at Kiote Services. In September 2013 she got an offer at Audi Center under the umbrella of Stallion Motors Limited to work as Sale Advisor/ Consultant.
Ms. Abubakar has starred in many movies such as The Two Aishas – Cinema, Strain – 2020 – Netflix- Movie, LaFamiliar- 2021- Tv Series, Love, and Crime – 2022, Dilemma -2022, Jagaban (The last man standing) – 2022, Liberty Villa – 2022- Tv Series, The Shift (Honorable) – 2022 and Iseju Meta Aye – 2022. Others are: Arole – 2021, Ogeere- Cinema, Mayowa’s Cross, Dreaming of America, Divorce, and Ogo.
A few weeks back, City People Journalist, BENPRINCE EZEH (08068599879), met her at the Premiere of ‘The Two Aishas’ in Lagos, where she revealed why she accepted to be part of the cast.
Your face looks familiar in the picture, are you one of the cast in the Two Aishas?
Yes, I am one of the Cast, I played Alima the third friend of the 2 Aishas
What did you think about the movie?
I think is a very beautiful movie, it is refreshing, it conservating, and it is about Muslims, it is a well-done movie, and am really excited to be part of the project
What does the movie teach, since it is a premium?
It teaches about friendship, love, and most importantly forgiveness.
What are we expecting from the movie?
Being first of its kind, am going to say that am enthusiastic about how the movie is going to go and am really excited am part of the project.
Was it the first time you are working with the two cast?
This is the first time am working with her and, have heard about them my experience is nothing short of what I heard about them
Are you looking to work with Arabel Production again?
Of course, am a step away from her call any time any day.
What was the most challenging part of the role you played in the movie?
Everything about it is challenging but in a healthy way. I played a very emotional role in the movie so a lot of feelings and energy had to be channeled into its delivery but I am quite happy about this, I mean what is growth without challenges?
When you got the script for the movie and you read through it, what first came to your mind?
‘I HAVE TO BE A PART OF THIS’ was what came to my mind. I instantly fell in love with the theme, the storyline, and everything surrounding the script and production.
What are the similarities between you in real life and the character you played in the movie?
Not many similarities, aside from being a strong value of family and friend ties and also being, but then that is what makes up a good Actor, being able to take up any character.
How did you get into acting?
I have always loved acting and have always had friends telling me to give it a try, I tried long ago, but I guess I wasn’t ready for the heat so I pulled out and focused on other things, but my passion for acting didn’t depreciate those periods, so I decided to give it a shot again.
Which is the biggest movie project you’ve been part of?
I have done a couple of productions, but a few of my favorites are: The Two Aishas, Strain, Jagaban, Ogeere, and Love and Crime.
