My birthday has come and gone. But I will never forget how Facebook stopped me from responding to all my over 1,000 well-wishers, across the globe, one after the other.
I want to use this medium to acknowledge and appreciate all the calls, texts and messages I received on all my social media handles, on my birthday.
As early as April 23rd, a day before my birthday, I began to receive birthday messages and wishes for my birthday which was still on the 24th of April. And by midnight of the 24th, my phone was filled up with more messages. And I knew I was in trouble. How will I be able to respond to all my well-wishers, I wondered.
I decided to spend the whole day online responding. Because people often accuse me of not acknowledging their messages, especially on Facebook and IG, on my birthdays, I decided to respond to all my messages, this year, but Facebook stopped me at some point. I really wanted to acknowledge every message I got, but as I proceeded, I was flagged at a point, for liking all the comments online.
I felt so bad. That was how Facebook spoilt my day. I was miserable. I was warned that if I make any comment again, my Facebook page will be blocked 🚫 to protect the Facebook community. The system must have wondered what was going on as I kept replying to my messages with automatic alacrity. That was my plight on my birthday.
To all my friends and family members on Facebook and Instagram, I assure you that I appreciate all your kind wishes. I promise that I will still get across to everyone.
Thank you and God bless.
