Abimbola Rasaki is a beautiful Skincare Specialist based in Manchester. She is good at what she does. She makes other ladies beautiful.
Until she got married not too long ago, she was popularly known as Abimbola Sonde. She recently opened a world-class Spa and Skincare Centre in Manchester that is still the talk of the town.
The big news is that Abimbola stormed Lagos a few days back to hold house warming for her mum, Mrs Sijuade Funmilola Akinwumi, who turned 70 months back. The house warming was on Sunday 23rd October 2022 at Isheri, OPIC area in Lagos. She recently told CityPeople Publisher, Seye Kehinde, why she made that move. Below are excerpts.
Can you tell me why you built a house for your mummy
It is her desire and anything Mummy wants she gets. She really suffered to raise me and my siblings. She deprived herself of a good life so we can have good education and life. As a single mother, she didn’t remarry but rather strife to make sure we have a good life.
How close are you to her?
I’m her best friend and vice versa. My mother is my precious jewel, she is my gold. I’m her eyes and the best thing that has happened to her. As her only female child, I remain the Queen of her heart. Her Princess and love. My mother is the definition of Abiyamo. A real Queen Mother.
How many siblings do you have?
I have 3 siblings. My older brother and 2 younger brothers.
How did you plan the coup and she didn’t know?
I planned everything in July when we commenced the building work. My older brother was the main site Engineer as that’s what he does for a living. He’s into real estate. My 2 younger brothers also resume at the site every day to supervise. We enjoyed every bit of the whole building process. In September our last boy got admission into a university here in the UK and he has to leave. Mummy was so overwhelmed with the good news that she’s not even thinking about any other thing. All she talks about is her baby that just arrived the UK. We talk to mummy as normal and still perform our duties respectfully.
My mum is such a sweetheart, funny, witty and praying Mother.
She didn’t know I will be coming to Nigeria so when I arrived I didn’t call or visit her even though I talk to her every day as normal I leave no room for any suspicion.
Two weeks to the date we choose. I called all her siblings and told them my brother is planning a small surprise party for mummy to celebrate her 70th birthday even though her birthday was in June but she didn’t really celebrate with her loved ones as I took her to Dubai to celebrate in style with myself.
So everyone thought they were coming for mummy’s surprise 70th birthday party. But I have to let her church members know the truth. Don’t want to deceive her church members too.
How many of your guests came from Manchester
About 20 people from Manchester. Everyone I invited turned up.
What did it cost you to build a house for mummy
About £125,000
How did the idea of building a house for mummy come to you?
I have always had the desire to gift her with a house in her own name. Not mine. And building from scratch makes it more interesting, exciting and fulfilling. She deserves it.
