She is a fashion goddess. She is into Skincare. She produces bikinis and lingeries that she sells and Toyin feels the best person to be a good advert for what she does is herself. So, she models her clothes and bikinis. She is also proud to show the world her flawless skin that glows. For those who don’t know her let’s tell you about this celebrity stylist & designer. She is also a Skin/Beauty Expert. She has Tiannah Glow products that are selling. She presides over a flourishing business empire called TIANNAH’s Empire in Lekki Phase 1. Early this week Toyin appeared on City People.
City TV Instagram Live chat where she revealed why she flaunts her lovely silky body. How can I be producing Lingeries and be looking for other models to come and showcase what I produce when I can do it myself? she asked. “Look I run 33 businesses in one Empire. I am a fashion icon, beauty specialist, fashion stylist and beautician with training and recognition from different parts of the world. I am the CEO of Tiannah’s Place Empire. I single-handedly created 33 related business from designing and making the unique Transformer line to cultural good like Amala, to hair design, to the Face/Body enhancing creams, dance studio, running a fashion school”.
“I have always had a passion for Skincare. I took it from my mum. My mum used to make skincare products. She would mix skincare herbs for her friends and most times, I was always there to assist her. Sometimes she would give me a list of herbs to get from the herb dealers popularly called Elewe Omo, in the local markets and that gradually that was how my interest increased. I got familiar with the processes and I kept records and asked a lot of questions”.
“So, truth be told I have passion for skincare. I love it when my skin looks lovely. I love to see people glow and being with my mother as she went about her skincare business helped fuel that hunger more. I learnt a lot from her, almost all she was able to show and teach me, and as little as I was then, I was already thinking about capitalising on all I have gathered over the years and make something out of it. That was how the idea of my Skin line was born…Whilst still schooling in UNILAG, I registered at Opral Benson’s Beauty School where I learnt a lot more about Skincare, the new business I was venturing into…I went to Opral Benson’s beauty school to learn more about Makeup, Hair, and all that has to do with the skin. After school, I started my own skin line. I studied to get a degree in skincare because I understood the importance of certified knowledge..Later I took another training. I travelled to Kano for few days. I stayed in a hut to learn from farmers about potions and herbs in relation to skincare. That was how I began. With time my Spa became too small for the kind of customers. I started to get. People came from far and near. Clients visited my spa from the Island. I got referrals. Also when I moved around and travelled outside the country. I had people comment on my skin and not once did I hesitate to tell them, it was the wonders of Tiannah’s Glow and it drove more clients my way. People who were battling pimples, Acne and other skin problems got treated by me even as a young girl.”
“So, you can see why I don’t listen to criticisms from haters when they criticise, me flaunting my body and skin. If you have good skin why not flaunt it? If you have a good body, why not flaunt it?
People always accuse Toyin Lawani of being too daring and bold in her dressing, is that true? “It is true. I am very, very daring. I am actually very daring, I don’t send anybody. I do what makes me happy, why should I worry about what you think?. When I came to this world I came alone Toyin Lawani is Toyin Lawani. I can’t beg you to like what I look like. You will not wear my dress for me. So, I won’t turn into a beggar. So, you have to do what makes you happy. Maybe because I am very exposed, I don’t see all these daring stuff as a big deal. I lived abroad for years. I have seen how they do things there. People are bold and daring. Why should you be timid? Why should I be timid? Why? Tell me. My mentality is kind of different. How many ladies have my kind of flawless skin? So, why should I keep it covered?
Why not flaunt it? Flaunt it if you have it. Living abroad for years, changed my mentality. For a lot of people in Nigeria, I don’t understand their own mentality. It is like they are too serious. I always tell them, e calm down, kilode. I have a Lingerie line. How do I sell my lingerie if I don’t wear it? What will the person wearing it wear to advertise it? Please tell me. Am I to wear a gown? You are into skincare business and you have flawless skin, must I cover my skin to advertise what I am selling? I don’t get it! You expect me to pay models to advertise my skin line when I have beautiful skin and people tell me that every day. Many of my customers tell me they buy my skin products and cream because of my flawless skin, so you expect me to cover it up. If you are selling a product you must be seen to be advertising it. Let people see it on you. Be proud of your product. People are buying my products because they say they see that my skin is good. If I get other models to advertise it, it won’t trend, it won’t have value.
So, any business you want to do make sure you are the face of the business, show them your product works on you. Anywhere I go people commend and like my skin. On the plane, at parties. I meet customers. My skin speaks for itself. When I don’t even wear make-up, they come to me to commend me. My skin is good. They like it. Would I go and wear Iro & Buba, Aso-Oke, Agbada to advertise skin line for you people ni? I don’t understand.
I wear Lingerie, they shout, see her she is going nude. Can you imagine that? They will shout Asewo, she is revealing her skin? See her, mother of 2 exposing her body. Useless. As a mother of 2, you cannot even wind your waist again, they will abuse her.
I notice that whenever I wear my Lingerie, it sells a lot because ladies see it and they like it on me. I always tell people how come many of you go into business and you are not proud of what you are doing. You will fail woefully if you are not proud of what you are doing. You are not going to make any money from that business. I am proud of what I do. I sell Lingerie and I am proud to wear it and flaunt it. If you don’t like it, please close your eyes. Don’t look at how can you go into a business that you are not proud of. Why are you doing that business if you are not proud of it. I love my business. I love Lingerie. I love wearing it. I love wearing it under my dress.
Do you know on a normal day I don’t like exposing my body outside? But I do it to advertise my Lingerie. I am a model. I model my products. I am used to all the abuse they abuse me on social media. I enjoy it. There are days I wake up and I check my phone and I won’t find anything and I will say haaa. These people have not abused me today. What happened? Haha. Are you tired of abusing me? I enjoy it. It makes me laugh. It makes me see how ignorant many people are. Please continue to abuse me. If you don’t abuse me how will I sell? I sell more when people abuse me. When they abuse me I keep laughing, at them and I make them feel like a fool. I am having fun”.
How does she maintain her skin? “I have products I use that I recommend for others to use like my Black soap. I have a routine I keep to every night. I have Tiannah’s Glow Range. I use my Black soap.
