The pretty woman who arrived a few days to her birthday in Lagos spoke about her expectation for Sunday, having landed in Nigeria, Thursday 11th February. she spoke to City People Senior Reporter, ISAAC ABIMBADE (08155107955).
You had a very elaborate birthday party last year and it’s almost a year now, what is your preparation for this year?
Actually, have been away for a while but my team has been working on planning this year’s birthday. Usually, my birthday is an avenue to reach out and to give back. You were there last year when I celebrated my 40th and I reached out to 40 widows. If you remember that I said something that day that my next target would be to empower 1 thousand. I will empower One thousand widows this year and that would come up on Monday 15; a day after my birthday. I would do this in a way that what I would be giving and also setting them up. I would be giving out grinding machines, hair driers, sewing machines. We have a group that will learn how to make soap. We also have another group that will learn how to make drinks. All that I have mentioned have been supplied already and the groups that will learn how to make soap and drinks would be given certificates, and there would be money for them to startup. While the others would be given sewing machines. We would be having 600 widows this year and 150 widows per quarter. We couldn’t match them because of the pandemic and this is why we have to split it.
Why the over N10 million for widows?
Like I told you, my husband and I like to give out. For me, if you are giving, you are giving to God. One of our secrets is giving. We give as a brand and as individuals. Anytime I think of my birthday I only think of giving out, and I want to make it bigger every year.
God has blessed me. I’m not the way I was last year, so if I’m not how I was last year then I should do better than what I did last year.
What are the lined up programmes for your 41st birthday?
41 is not really a landmark and considering what’s going on regarding the Covid-19 guidelines. But I will definitely have dinner with a few friends on Sunday evening. I don’t know what my husband is up to. As I speak now I don’t know what he can pull up as a surprise. But I know there would be a small gathering after church service. Then, on Monday, I would be doing my birthday with widows and also empowering them and also with my staff in the office.
How do you feel at 41 ma?
I feel great! I’m just starting. I’m happy and I thank God for life. I thank God for what He’s done for me because when a woman clocks 40, a lot of things change about her but in all, I thank God. I thank God. I’m well. I’m fulfilled and happy.
Why the need for widows every year?
At Chris Bamidele Empowerment Foundation, we have areas of concentration and widow is one of them. We have an education plan too, where we give out scholarships to students. We have a different focus but the widow is one of our key areas.
What are the things you are expecting from your husband this year as your birthday surprise?
I don’t know what he’s up to! The man is full of surprise and that’s how I saw Teni (Hip-hop artiste) last year beside me. My husband is full of surprises and he knows how to pull a lot of stunts, so I can’t really say or predict. And you know he goes all out and that’s what he does better
I don’t know what is happening in Nigeria but we have started the party already in the USA before I came back.
