•The US Based Actress Reveal
Popular U.S based veteran actress, Aderonke Ajenise Oduborisa, a.k.a. Ashabi Olorisha is presently in town. She is one actress that always put smile on her colleagues’ faces, no matter what it takes or what it will cost her.
As always, she treated veteran actor, Ade Aderenle to a special surprise 75th birthday celebration.
She didn’t only put smiles on his face on a special day but made the highly respected actor shed tears of joy. In this interview with City People’s OLUWADAMILOLA AKINSANYA, Ashabi Olorisha spoke on why she doesn’t joke with Ade Adenrele and sees him as a mentor in the industry.
What is your relationship with the celebrant (Ganiu Adenrele) in the industry?
He is my father but actually, he met me in the industry. I can say it anywhere that he is my father. If I am told to bring out my father, I will be happy to mention or show him to everyone and he has been playing the role for a long. He calls me on phone to pray for me all the time and also he extended that love to my son too. I am based in the US and my son in England. He will call him on phone without me knowing about their conversation and my son will say mum grandpa called me and pray for me, so he has been playing that role in my life and I love him so much to the extent that, whatever I can do for my biological father I can do for him, even though my father is late.
What can you say concerning the surprise birthday prayer you organised?
OMG (oh my God). Normally if I am coming to Nigeria I would have called him ahead that I was coming and he will be eager to see me. I didn’t even tell him about my movement. I have been in Nigeria like a week ago and he didn’t know anything. Immediately I came back from the States it was one of my cousin’s place I stayed when I came back and even my cousin that happened to be one of her daughters too do call him on phone. I didn’t deem it fit to call him that I was back but we have been planning it silently and I have been calling the veteran actors and actresses that I was so moved and they were all saying Alhaji is nice and a good person and they started praying for him. They all turned up despite it is Ramadan time, especially Uncle Jide Kosoko. I pray all his good things to start manifesting. He is a father figure to all of us not only me. He’s so humble at his age. He can bow for a dwarf despite his age and I don’t know any young person that can invite him for any event that he will not attend even if it is a far distance. If he reaches there, he will not sit down. He will be dancing and I don’t know who can dance more than he does at his age.
I am happy Alhaji is 75 years old and I wish him more years on earth in good health. Thanks to all the legends, all my fathers and mothers that came through for us today from Prince Jide Kosoko, Uncle Yinka Quadri, Alhaja Fausat Balogun, Rafiu Balogun and all those I can’t remember to mention their names and those I could not communicate with and I saw them here. I am so happy and grateful.
Thanks to my friend princess, daughter of King Isheri Olofin and Alhaja Dupe Shine Shine and Ayoka Ologede, Nike Peller and late mentor wife, Peju Aromire, Yetunde Wunmi, Taju Gbadamosi, Remmy Shitta and Mama Ereko.
I thank everybody and my cousin, Alhaja Shukuratuli Modupeola Sanni a.k.a. Shine Shine. She is my cousin. We are related biologically and she is my friend. She stood by us when we were putting everything together and Alhaji was not aware. We planned everything together and her husband as well. I thank everybody and appreciate you and to my brother CEO, City People Magazine boss, Dr. Seye Kehinde. I love you so much because you have always been there for me. If I call him now he will answer me uncountable times. He will say don’t worry my sister it is done. Thank you so much Ola Oriki. Thank you Arike Ade; you didn’t take a kobo from me and she said Alhaji is my daddy, we will do it together and you came in as well. I say thank you so much I am really grateful and everyone. And to those who helped in packing all the food and Tawakalitu Akanke and Mrs Baruwa and my senior sister, Rashidat Omo Jayesimi and thank you so much and my good friend. I saw last 41 years ago when leaving secondary school. I just called her yesterday and she said I will be there and she came. I love you and appreciate you. Thank you, everybody.
