How does she feel at 44? Why real estate? How did she get the name S. O. HOMES? What made her float the company 6 months ago? What are many life lessons she has learnt at 44? She spoke to City People Assistant Society Editor, ABIOLA ORISILE, after her birthday celebrations. Read on

How do you feel at 44 and what has life taught you?

I have learnt alot and I thank God for everything. I’m just grateful for my life, my husband, my children and the whole Okoya family. I’m thankful that God has shown me a lot. I’m really blessed and I count my blessings one by one.

Looking forward to this morning, how early did you wake up?

I didn’t wake up very early oh! I’m just taking my life very easy. Sunday is my resting day. It’s just for my birthday; I just had to get up by 12 to see to things and make sure everything is okay.

What has life taught you at age 44?

Well, I’m wiser and I believe that whatever you do that you would get. If I want my life to be good, I just have to plan and work for it. God has blessed me with a wonderful husband. We understand each other and we try to do everything possible for both ourselves and our children’s sake. So I’m very grateful, my husband is a wonderful person and he appreciates and understands me.

What do you mean by you don’t listen? People, that are close to you know how humble you are to both young and old?

Well, after God, it’s my husband. You know, there is no how you can be perfect, you must have some shortcomings. My husband has taken my good side and bad side. When I said we tolerate each other, I know that we accept ourselves for who we are. So when I said Chairman, I’m stubborn, it’s just a phrase to show that I can still make mistakes so just understand me and know it wasn’t done intentionally.

Looking at the past Covid-19 pandemic, what are the lessons you have learnt being indoors and isolated?

Worldwide, the Covid-19 has opened up our eyes to those things we used to take for granted. Even now, I pray God takes it all away and things should go back to the way they were. As for me, I have learnt to take life very easy, it’s not worth killing yourself over. Appreciate what you have, it doesn’t have to be over the top. Right now is different from what we used to see it as. And the few people that were with me which were my close family, I learnt to appreciate them more unlike before that we believe we can always see them anytime we like. Covid-19 has brought a lot of people together. You have more time to spend with your children and family. It’s not just working all the time, when you make money, you still need someone to share it with.

You still look younger. You look no different than the last time you celebrated four years ago. What have you been doing to maintain your shape and good looks?

Well , it has all been God. My family don’t give me trouble, so I have alot of rest and peace of mind.

Is there anything you are dropping or adding soon?

I’m not adding anything, everything is just there. I just pray God should crown my efforts.

We know you as a construction giant. But you are now moving to property development (S.O. Homes). How did you come up with that name?

Well, it’s just my name Sade Okoya Homes that I used. But like I told you, everything that I am and will be, is my husband and God. I appreciate everything and I don’t take things for granted. I don’t have much that I would take for granted. I just pray God blesses my business and may God grant my husband long life to be able to do the wedding for our children and he will also see their grandchildren too. I’m not asking for too much. I content with what I have. This is my brainchild of a few months ago and lots have been done to active it. Glory be to God and my hubby.
