OWOLABI SALIS, PFN, AD, Lagos Guber polls

•As It’s Governorship Candidate

High Chief Owolabi Salis is the Lagos AD governorship candidate. He is a strong contender for the job. He enjoys tremendous grassroot support and he appeals a lot to the youth. When you drive round Lagos Streets these days you will see his billboards. And he has many of them littering major streets.

Although some political analysts have wondered whether Chief Salis has the financial muscle and the popularity to beat the likes of Babajide Sanwo Olu of APC and Jimi Agbaje of PDP, his supporters disagree totally. They are so positive that he has what it takes to beat this 2 top contenders and others.

Chief Kola Ajayi, the Chairman of Alliance for Democracy and Chairman of Star Alliance recently revealed in this report below who Chief Salis is.

“More than 2 years ago, I was personally introduced to High Chief Owolabi Salis, a great Lagosian and a patriotic Nigerian. At our meeting on the political situation in Lagos and Nigeria, he echoed the complaint in the minds of all Lagosians that Lagoscommonwealth is not being controlled by the people and that the destiny of many prospects, particularly, the youths, are being derailed by special interests. He also said that ethnic and religious crises have created so much hateamong Nigerians leading to so many loss of lifes. The situation we are now is that the more crises and hate you are

able to produce as a politician, the more political relevance you enjoy. He however expressed hope that is possibleto change these problems with men of great will and wisdom. I solidly agreed with him and I am sure you all do.

After further discussion, he came up with the idea of moving the people to take back their commonwealth in Lagos. This is a fight of “The People Vs. The Individual” We moved into action and invited other stakeholders to form a team into a Lagos Coalition Movement. This teamwas named the “ Star Alliance”.

Star Alliance is a Lagos Collision Movement (limited to Lagos) to take back Lagos commonwealth (what belongs to you and me) from the control of a special interest and give it back to the people. It is comprised of representatives ofthe grassroots and credible people of APC, the grassroots and credible people of PDP and AD+, that is, 24 other political parties including Alliance for Democracy, AD, formed by Afenifere, APGA formed by Igbo leaders, Accord among others. Also represented in the Star Alliance are representatives of civil societies, unions and culturalinstitutions. This is a Lagos based coalition force to rescue the grassroots people of Lagos State from the holds of systemic slavery and corrupt leaderships.

In today’s Lagos, there are many imposed stooges in the government and the stooges must not only sing praises of the special interest but also make returns by sharing of the commonwealth allocations.

This special interest believes Lagos voters, Electoral Umpire, INEC, Police and other security agencies, Civil Societies, Traditional Institutions, leadership of opposition parties, particularly PDP leadership, and the Judges can always be bought during elections by a tiny fraction of the ill-acquired commonwealth resources.

Everyone is asking: Are we going to continue like this? We are asking you to join us as a stakeholder to rescue the grassroots people of this state from slavery, corruption, imposition, stooge making, deception and oppression.

Members of the Star Alliance have agreed to jointly promote credible and untainted candidates with deep interests in the development of the grassroots under Alliance for Democracy (AD), a credible political platform that is acceptable to all Lagosians. The battle to free Lagos has begun and you are a part. We humbly requests that you form your own independent coordinated army of voters to make this possible.

Our governorship candidate is not only the candidate of the Alliance for Democracy but also the candidate of the Star Alliance.

Our candidate has a reconciliation background in political divisions in Lagos State. He was a member of NADECO abroad that campaigned for Kudirat Abiola corner, a street named in New York City beside Nigerian Consulate after the killing of Kudirat Abiola. The street naming was approved after arguments by Chief Anthony Enahoro, may his soul rest in peace, Walter Carrington, Afusat Abiola, former Mayor Dickson of NYC and Professor Wole Soyinka among others. He is the Akinyegun of Owu Kingdom, crowned by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Olowu of Owu, a member of 2004 (14 years ago) Queens, New York, USA, Reception Committee for the President Muhammadu Buhari, a pioneer member and first Secretary of Afenifere, USA, a member of Alliance for Democracy, AD, USA, in 1999 before moving to PDP, USA in 2003, and recently a financial donor to APC, New York, USA among others. Despite these reconciliation backgrounds, his deep interests is in the development of the lessprivileged, the grassroots.

For the above reasons, we are looking forward to working relationships with members of the grassroots and credible people of APC, grassroots and credible people of PDP, lovers of democracy as symbolized by MKO Abiola, the ADC and other interests groups to achieve one great objective: “To take Lagos commonwealth back to thepeople”. As Yorubas will say “Ija ilu ni afe loja.” We cannot avoid to divide the votes. If we win, our focus will be moving forward to advance the interests of the people and never to be vindictive.

Participation in government for the benefit of the people will involve the grassroots and credible people of APC, the grassroots and credible people of PDP, the AD+ which includes 24 other parties, the civil societies, cultural institutions, the people among others. Destiny of the people will be determined by them and never to be derailed by any special interest.

Vote buying and rigging have been a major challenge militating against the development of our democracy. While we will work against rigging, we are also going to campaign on Zero Money Politics and a No Noise grassrootsfocus. Our main focus is on the wellbeing of the people of the grassroots. If you love Lagos, we ask you to join us.

Among the objectives of this campaign and of The Star Alliance include:

(1.) To take back Lagos Commonwealth (what belongs to all of us) from special interests and give it back to thepeople and for the benefit of all Lagosians.

(2.) To stop imposition, exploitation and stooge making in Lagos politics.

(3.) To improve on the wellbeing of the less privileged in Lagos.

(4.) To assist our youths that are being systematically enslaved by using them for violence and miscreancy

while the leaders children are living in comfort; to reform and empower these youths and to lead them to

better life and family values.

(5.) To bring back values to our culture and traditions

(6.) To bring back respect and professionalism to the police and other security agencies in Lagos.

(7.) To bring back the culture of excellence and enterprising attitudes to the civil service.

(8.) To promote independence of the judiciary in Lagos and encourage judicial decisions to advance the

political and social economic interests of people of Lagos State.

(9.) To challenge all forms of systemic slavery, exploitation of the less privileged and corruption in Lagos.

(10.) To do all that is necessary within the bounds of the law to advance the wellbeing of the grassroots and theless privileged in Lagos.

So help us God. Asee Edumare!
