Sheikh Sirajudeen Asukuna the founder and chief missioner of Hizbullahi International Prayer Outreach Ministry is a renowned Islamic cleric whose popularity is far reaching. He is well loved by Lagosians and many celebrities in Lagos don’t joke with him. They rate him high and don’t miss his programmes. Some of them see him as their spiritual father and someone they consult and seek advice and guidance from before making key decisions.
The Hizbullahi Ministry under Shiekh Asukuna has continued to grow in leaps and bounds with the number of members increasing day by day. The society is popular for its programmes well loaded with prayers and lectures. Sheikh Asukuna presides over most of the activities of the group. Some are weekly, monthly while a lot of them are done annually. Many top Lagos celebs always take part in these programmes. They also are streamed online, providing room for those who for one reason or the other can’t be there physically.
The just concluded Ramadan speaks volume of how prominent Sheikh Asukuna is among top Lagos celebrities. There is hardly any known celebrity and socialite in town that hasn’t invited him for a special Ramadan Lecture in time past. The Sheikh was seriously busy through out this year’s holy month doing dawah (preaching). He and his team of clerics travelled across the length and breadth of Lagos. There is hardly any day they don’t go for the Ramadan lecture series.
During the last 10 days of this year’s Ramadan, Sheikh Asukuna’s ministry organised Laylatul Qadr, a massive vigil which was largely attended by many Islamic faithful and celebs both physically and virtually. The night of majesty was graced by another popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Ibrahim Bukhari Al-Mukhtar of Al-Huda Al-Mukhtariyyah International Prayer Mission and Muhammad Rosulullah Global Family. The night was a glorious one and a huge blessing for those that attended.
Another thing you can’t take away from Shiekh Asukuna is his popularity and influence on the social scene. Aside from being an Islamic cleric, he relates well with most of the top celebrities and socialites in town. Of course, it is no longer news that he is a childhood friend to popular fuji musician, K1 De Ultimate. Back then they both rocked parties together. Sheikh Asukuna is well respected by many socialites and they don’t joke with his advice and prayers. They call him their Sheikh and always run to him whenever they are in difficulties.
Sheikh Asukuna is doing great things through his ministry, Hizbullahi International Prayer Outreach Ministry whose national headquarters is located at No 2 Freeman Street, Ebute-Metta (East) Lagos. He is currently building a gargantuan Mosque, an edifice of many floors with state-of-the-art facilities.
On completion, the multi-million-naira project which is more of an Islamic centre would house an elementary school and a mini-clinic for the benefit of the people in the area. It will also have in it an event hall, for all kinds of Islamic social activities. This would make the dream of the society come to reality. This would give avenue for his teeming followers and members of the community to have access to the many services they plan to offer.
