Why Many Property Developers Don’t Joke With OONI

by City People

Have you noticed that many real estate players respect the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi a lot? Have you wondered why many of them go to him a lot for a consultation? We can tell you why. City People can tell you that 6 years after Ooni left the real estate business to become King of Ife, he is still very much involved in what goes on within the industry. He is still very much in touch with his colleagues in the industry and he has helped to nurture a new generation of real estate players who look up to him for inspiration and encouragement. They constantly ask for his opinion on developments within the industry that Kabiyeesi holds dear to his heart. And anytime they meet with him, he constantly gingers them with new ideas and challenges them to do new things. By nature, Kabiyeesi is a man of great ideas. He is always brimming with ideas on what can be done to improve any sector. His ideas are not limited to real estate alone. He is always thinking of new things that can be done to improve everyday life. That is why many real estate practitioners go to him almost on a daily basis for ideas and consultations. This has gone on for years.

The Ooni is 6 years on the throne and over the last 6 years more and more real estate players go to have meetings with him. They also want him to give them a second opinion about their projects. Some even want him to be part of their activities. Trust Kabiyeesi, he doesn’t turn anyone of them down. He will take his time to listen to them and then give them his opinion and ideas.

No wonder the MD’s of all the key property companies enjoy a close relationship with him and he proudly tells everyone that all of them are his sons in whom he is well pleased.

One of those close to the Ooni is Prince Alex Kehinde Adedayo Bankole, the MD of KAB Constructions. He enjoys a close relationship with the Ooni. So also is Dr. Bamidele Onalaja, the GMD of RevolutionPlus Property & Chairman, REDAN (Lagos Chapter). RedaN Lagos made him a Patron of Redan a few days back. Aare Adetola Olanipekun Emmanuelking, the GMD/CEO of Adron Group is also close to the Ooni. They have come a long way.

That the Ooni still maintains his links with the Built industry became clear months back, in July 2021, when the GMD of RevolutionPlus, who is a Rotarian, invited the Ooni to his investiture as the 20th Hope President of Rotary Club of Maryland, Ikeja, district 9110 and the induction of 2021-2022 board members, plus the launching of her humanitarian service projects. The Ooni not only came, he sat throughout the proceedings. He also made a powerful speech, in which, he revealed how close he is to the GMD of RevolutionPlus and to the Rotary family. He revealed how he calls Rotarian Bamidele Onalaja the nickname, Mr. Revolution and his wife, Tolulope, Mrs. Revolution. He revealed how he enjoys chatting with the couple.

It was at the event, held at Glitz Event Centre in Lekki where Kabiyeesi was made the Royal Father of the day that he revealed his past relationship with the Rotary Club. “Many don’t know that I am a Paul Harris Fellow,” he revealed. “I have been close to Rotary for years. I have been involved in the activities of Rotary.” Many of the Rotarians who were present at the event were pleasantly surprised because they never knew that the Ooni knows about Rotary. To further shock them, the Ooni led the whole hall to sing Rotary songs, and this blew the minds of all the guests and members.

Also, a few weeks back, the Ooni was in Lagos for his conferment as the Patron of Lagos Redan. Many of the members spoke highly about the Ooni. The GMD of RevolutionPlus, who is also the President of Lagos REDAN described the Ooni as a good man whose knowledge of the industry is deep. According to him “He has been a developer for years and so he understands us better”.
