Mrs Bisi Okeowo-Bolade is the running mate of Ogun ADC’s gubernatorial candidate, Prince Gboyega Isiaka in the March 2, 2019, election.
Okeowo-Bolade, who was announced as the party’s deputy governor candidate in the state by Isiaka, a few months back, promised to mobilise women in the state to make sure that the party takes over power from the ruling All Progressives’ Congress (APC) in the state. She was a Senior Special Assistant to the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. She hails from Ogbogbo in Ijebu North East of Ogun State. She has solicited the support of women in the state to make her dream and that of Isiaka a reality in the forthcoming elections. In her acceptance speech, she said: “I want to thank everybody and our father (Gbolade Osinowo). I will also like to extend my gratitude to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. Thanks to our Excellency, my Oga (Gboyega Isiaka) my brother and he is now my father too because I am now part of his family. I pray that God will lead us to Okemosan come May 29, 2019. And I also need the women
Many don’t know the role the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, played in picking Okeowo as GNI’s running mate. It was revealed that he was the one who put her forward after necessary checks had been made, picking a running mate from Ijebu area will generate a lot of voting advantage as, GNI is from Yewa, Many believe the central senatorial district will not have an upper hand in running for the governor or the deputy as, governor Amosun is from Ogun central and he is about rounding off his two term in the office.
Mrs Okeowo-Bolade is very active and since she was announced as GNI’s running mate, she has been on the street of Ogun campaigning and canvassing day and night to ensure they win the election. The party’s gubernatorial candidate maintained that with Okeowo-Bolade’s wealth of experience in politics, having her as the running mate would add value that would ensure his victory at the poll in the next election. She was picked because the party was looking at the person with a right character, experience and right exposure and after consultation, GNI said he had hand in picking his deputy candidate and expressed belief that they have the right person who would add value to the success at the election and to the people of Ogun State.” Party leaders also agreed that the choice of Okeowo–Bolade has produced a good combination of the candidates who share the same quality of leadership to make the state better for the citizens.
Okeowo-Bolade is a consummate politician, a grassroots mobiliser, somebody who has paid her dues. She has the experience and has demonstrated that she shares the same quality with the gubernatorial candidate.
