Why The C&S Church Is Different From Others

This is the story of the Cherubim & Seraphim Church. It has a very rich history and many do not know that the C&S Church is part of the move and visitation of the Holy Spirit to many parts of the world during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

The C&S Church started simply as a group of believers who believe in the Power and Efficacy of prayers. At the beginning, there was no name given to the group. Later, as the number grew and registration became imminent, the group resorted to prayer and fasting in search of a suitable name. After a few days of praying and fasting, a visioner in the group saw the letter ‘SE’ in the sky with the rest of the world being obscured by cloud. Later another set appeared

a ‘RA’ in the same manner.

Upon investigation, a clergyman from the United Native African Church helped to interpret the combination as ‘SERAFU’ (SERAPH).

Upon hearing the interpretation, the Founder, Baba Aladura Orimolade rose and stood in the middle of the assembly room, turned to the four corner of the room and pronounced; ‘In the name of the Father, and of the on and of the Holy Ghost, this Society will be called “SERAFU:”

The whole assembly then rose and shouted ‘Alleluyah’ signifying unanimous acceptance and approval with joy. Thus, the group became known first as ‘Egbe Serafu’ (Seraphim Society).

Through vision and directive at a later time, Archangel Michael was named as Captain and Patron Saint of the Society.

Later on after naming of the group as ‘Seraphim Society; a woman narrated her dream relating to the name. In her dream, she saw a large company of young children dressed in beautiful white garments, and she was instructed that the name ‘KERUBU’ (Cherubim) should be added to the name because KERUBU & SERAFU (Cherubim and Seraphim) are like twin angels in heaven who should not be separated.

Thereupon, the society was renamed Cherubim & Seraphim Society. Thus, it became widely recognised that the C&S is the only church whose name came through vision and can be identified functionally in the Bible, especially with the affinity of Cherubim & Seraphim with the Throne of Almighty God. Moreover, the group became the first Christian body whose members are all robed in white garments in Nigeria.

The wearing of white garments can theologically be viewed as apocalyptic because the Lord’s Prayer says, ‘Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.’ This quote from the Lord’s Prayer is comely, especially for the Cherubim & Seraphim, who in heaven are robed in whites (Rev. 7: 13-15).

Cherubim and Seraphim church began to worship as a Christian body on Wednesday the 9th of September, 1925. It is commonly believed by members that the, Lord God Himself established the church here on earth through Moses Orimolade Tunolase of the blessed memory with Captain Abiodun Emmanbel, who was then a young lady but whose seven day trance actually marked the beginning of what is known as the Cherubim & Seraphim church.

They are united under the Unification of C&S churches council. The head of this Unification is His Most Eminence Prophet (Dr.) Solomon Adegboyega Alao (Supreme Head of C&S).

Sacred, Eternal, Aladura and Movement are all one under the Unification Council, and the church is focused in Christ with no division,

Lately, there have been drives to modernise and brand the’ church in order to encourage more youth into the church and also dispel some negative schools of thought about the church through seminars, all-inclusive forms of worship, use of the English Language in service and revivals across the world to showcase the Biblical authenticity of the church.

This drive was initiated by Rev. Mother Esther Abimbola Ajayi (Founder & Spiritual Head at Love of Christ Church Worldwide). Attesting to this was a recent joint revival’ between C&S and Celestial Church in 2017 and another revival in New York in July 2018. The church continues to grow and spread worldwide to God’s glory.
