Adejumoke Anike Odulaja is a very beautiful woman. She is stylish also. It is on account of her beautiy that she got the nickname Sisi Oge. The big news is that she is 60. But she does not look it. She is blessed with an adorably full figure that gives her a good look. She is fit. She does not joke with her daily exercise regimen. She owns a Gym. And she eats healthily.
Let’s tell you more about this accomplished lady, was born on 3rd of December 1962 in Lagos to the family of Emmanuel Ademola Adeyemo a Civil Servant who rose to the peak of his career and Christiana Olayinka Adeyemo a seamstress/ business woman both of blessed memory. She started her early education at Anglican Girls Primary School and New Era Girls Secondary School, both in Surulere, Lagos. And later proceeded to Lagos State University (LASU) to study Law.
She started her working career in the Accounts Department of the Nigeria Railway Corporation where she was exposed to several in house capacity building courses . She left the service in 1986 . She pursued a course in Beauty Therapy because of her interest in the Wellness and Fitness industry. She has been exposed to a lot of conferences/ seminars both locally and internationally in this field. She is a Healthy Living Ambassador.
She got married to her heartthrob, late Engr Olufemi Okanlawon Odulaja, a property/investment guru, philanthropist, and a socialite in 1986. The union is blessed with God fearing children who are all professionals in their fields.
Her keen passion for business led to the registration of Goldcard Ventures Ltd in 1995 which metamorphosed into a group of companies dealing in investments; properties; Interior & Exterior decorations; Hospitality as well as a Spa and Fitness Center. Her Sisi Oge brand of Aso Oke is a Traditional Wear to be reckoned with. Deaconess Adejumoke Anike Odulaja is a steadfast Christian and member of Christ Apostolic Church, She is passionate about serving God in the beauty of His holiness.
Her membership in the Rotary family commenced in 1986 when her husband joined the Rotary club of Akoka. Adejumoke, became a Charter member of Inner Wheel Club of Akoka in 1987, a past president of Inner Wheel Club of Matori; Charter President of Inner Wheel Club of Onipanu;past District Chairman of District 911. How do you feel turning 60?
Haa! It feels good to be 60. I am excited. I am happy.
I thank God because looking back at the journey so far, it can only be God. Honestly, at the beginning of the year, I had this anxietly. I was anxious: will I be able to get to 60 or not? I thought of so many things. You know my husband passed at 59. So, after my 59th birthday, I started having this notion and I started praying. My health wasn’t stable. Maybe it was just that anxiety, and so many things.
One thing happened about a month or so. Over a month ago, I was sick and I was rushed to the hospital. Honestly, I thought I wasn’t going to make it. And when I came back, I said God, you saved me and you saved me for a purpose. I am going to give thanks to you all my life.
I am going to celebrate. I am going to show it. God loves Thanksgiving. So, I am going to celebrate my birthday. I want to thank God for all he has done, for what he is doing, for what he is still going to do in my life. I feel so good.
Looking back what are the lessons life has taught you at 60?
Honestly, looking back, 60 is something with celebrating, because there is a lot to learn about life, there is a lot I have learnt about life. There has been a lot of ups, downs, so many things have happened in the last 10 years to 15 years. They are so many things I cannot even comprehend. But all in all, the lesson is: hold on to God. Hold on to Christ. When you hold on to God, he will hold on to you. When you leave everything in his hands, you will see his hands in everything. I have learnt not to get angry any longer. I have learnt not to let people offend me for whatever reasons. I have learnt to be more patient, to accept people the way they are, I have also learnt that it is not everybody that will like you. I know it is not everybody that will like me, or like me for who I am. So, I am not expecting too much from any human being. I look on to Christ the author and finisher of my faith.
In the years past, I have learnt so many things, about Endurance, Perseverance, Patience, of accepting people for who they are, and not expecting too much from any human being.
Atimes, when people do something to me and they say, I know you are angry, I will say No. I can’t be angry. You are a human being like me. I can’t fighty with you. To err is human and to forgive is divine.
I have told God not to allow any thing to bother me, to give me the Grace to live one day at a time, to be able to forgive and forget whoever offends me, and to be able to move closer to him, know him the more and get closer to God the more. So, I have learnt so many things. And looking back, I can only thank God for all he has done in my life. He has been able to stabilise me, whether I am down in the valley or up in the mountain, he is there with me. He knows about my going out or my coming in. He sees me all though. I can only give thanks to him. He has been so wonderful in my life.
