HAS YAYI DROPPED HIS OGUN GOVERNORSHIP AMBITION?

by Reporter
Yayi

This is a fresh gist that has been circulating in the political sphere in the last few days. News from the grapevine said that the Senator representing Lagos West in the National Assembly, who has been reported to be working on becoming the next governor of Ogun State in 2019 has dropped the ambition.

Recall that Yayi has been making moves to warm himself into the hearts of the people of Ogun State, particularly the people of Yewa, where he hails from, although he has been playing his politics in Lagos over the years. He has indeed sunk meaningful resources into the ambition in the past one year.

Yayi’s ambition to pick the ticket of the APC to run for Ogun governorship has met a brickwall in the state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, who has other plans. Before now, a deep, cold war had been going on between Amosun and Yayi’s loyalists in Ogun State over the serving Lagos senator’s ambition to become the state Governor in 2019. Although, Yayi has not come out to clear the air on this latest gist going round, but what remains unclear is the reason that would have made him drop the ambition.
