Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi, was heavily criticised by fans for sharing photos of grieving actress, Remi Surutu, who lost her 21-year-old daughter, Ayo. Ayo who succumbed in her long battle with sickle cell anaemia, was buried Thursday, July 6, in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Actress Remi Surutu has released an official apology to Yomi, saying she takes responsibility for all the insults and pain he has received for sharing her grieving photo – Here’s what she wrote;
‘REMI SURUTU THANKS ALL; APPRECIATES YOMI FABIYI AND OTHERS FOR THE SUPPORT
Tomorrow marks the 8th day I lost my beautiful daughter Ayo. I will live with the pain forever as a mother even though I owe her every strength henceforth to raise her siblings and keep her good memories.
I must thank everyone who contributed positively towards her burial, Ebony castle am grateful, you honoured my daughter. I thank all my fans who expressed concerns and send messages. Those who visited are much appreciated.
However, I choose to grieve this way because Ayo’s case is different. Those that know us together will understand better.
Let me add this, over the years, Yomi Fabiyi and few colleagues had been supporting and visiting anytime Ayo had complications at home or in hospital. And recently despite being busy with Late Moji Olaiya’s burial, he still finds time to visit Ayo in General hospital Ikeja before the eventuality. What more do I want from a colleague? Nobody should come this hard on a good person leaving out the bad ones are left to jubilate and justify their non-concern.
He sought my consent before putting anything up, we were together. I am mentally balance enough to say no if I don’t want anything and till now he has not done anything contrary to my wish or to hurt me.
There is no amount of contents on social media that can match what I carry inside me, please understand me. I have few media houses who detailed the burial events and I sincerely appreciate it. I love my daughter so much that I do not want her passage quiet since sickness had robbed her off many vibrant activities and fun of life. Hopefully you all understand.
@yomifabiyi I am sorry for the insults and pain, I take responsibility. My family appreciate you, the movie industry know your value and we know the idea you are sacrificing to keep and uphold. We need more of you, I am a mother and I mean this. With time everybody will understand. Thanks to all my colleagues, friends and well wishers for your support and understanding. Ani fi iru e gba.
Remi Oshodi(Surutu)’
