On Tuesday 1st October, 2019, the prestigious Central Council of Ibadan Indegenes (CCII) inaugurated new executives to run the affairs of the club for the next 2 years. The colourful event, held at Ibadan House, Oke Aremo, had in attendance prominent sons and daughters of Ibadan land, traditional rulers and captains of Industries. Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Lamidi Adeyemi 111; the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Samuel Adetunji; the immediate past governor of Oyo State, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi as well as several other top dignitaries graced the occasion.

In case you don’t know, CCII is the umbrella body of all affiliate socio-cultural clubs of Ibadan both home and in diaspora. It was established in 1982 with the collaboration of three major Socio-Cultural societies; Ibadan Progressive Union (IPU), Lagelu ‘1 Club and Ibadan Descendant Union of the University of Ibadan and the Polytechnic of Ibadan (IDU U.I/POLY). The club, CCII was formed mainly to provide a platform for the coordination and harmonization of the development efforts of the constituent societies towards the promotion of economic, social, education and cultural interest of Ibadan land.

Today, CCII has grown to become the most respected club with more than 250 socio-cultural societies/clubs under it and prominent indigenes of Ibadan land as members. It also has some staggering achievements to show for the 37 years of its existence which include but not limited to promoting the welfare and progress of Ibadan land; construction of Ibadan House, construction of a befitting palace complex for Olubadan (an ongoing project sitting on 9.88 hectares of land) at Oke Aremo; merit award for prominent sons and daughters who have contributed towards the development of Ibadan land; recognition of past heroes; scholarships for the indigent students; Ibadan’ cultural week celebration, aimed at uniting indigenes and promoting culture and value of Ibadan land just to mention but few of their several achievements. It is of great importance to note that CCII is also pursuing creation of Ibadan State.

In achieving all these aforementioned goals, however, CCII, since inception and right from the days of its pioneer president late Chief S.I Amole of IPU, has always constitutes executive members who normally drive the affairs of the club alongside the President-General for a period of time.
