The management of An oil company based in the Garden City of Port Harcourt came all the way to Lagos recently with only one mission – woo someone from the public relations team of leading telecommunications operator, Globacom. This has resulted in a move by the debonair public relations manager of Globacom, Sunday Ikwuagwu moving to OilServ Group.
Sources close to the Port Harcourt based company say OilServe has been so fascinated and awed at the ubiquity and brand visibility of Globacom in Nigeria that they felt they needed an equivalent performance in the oil sector. Hence, they decided that the best way to do this was to hire someone from the public relations team of Globacom.
Designated as Coordinator, Public & External Relations at Oilserv Group, the management of the company has one major task for Sunny as he is fondly called, which is a mandate to replicate whatever it is that has made Globacom stand out among the competition. Apparently, this has to be adapted to the peculiar nature of the oil sector.
Ikwuagwu was Head, Communications, Marketing & Public Relations at Rainbow Group before joining Globacom. He has also worked as Public Relations Specialist at Novelpotta Y&R / Wunderman Nigeria and as a Producer II with Voice of Nigeria.
It seems to be no coincidence that the Oilserv Group has been more in the news lately.
