A few months back, many were surprised when news broke that 2 leading Fuji Stars, Atawewe and Pasuma had ended their 1 year rift. According to the news, both artistes made up at the surprised party held in honour of Atawewe. The celebrator (Atawewe) walked into the venue of the party only to find Pasuma as one of his guest who had patiently waited for Atawewe. Both embraced thereby ending their months of not talking to each other, since the day they had disagreement at the opening of Sidewalk Lounge in Ikeja, Lagos.
What really happened? What’s the real story behind the make up meeting, City People asked Atawewe recently. How did they make up? “It was at my birthday, “he explained. “We’re had a disagreement for a long time, long time ago. Part of it is over who is superior in music and all of that. You can never tell me he is superior more than me. How will you say that. I didn’t ask you for any help. You didn’t do any thing for me.
“I didn’t come to your house. You didn’t come to my house. I don’t even know what is in your account. You don’t know what is in my account. We are colleagues. And we are friends. If I see that I am not comfortable with you, I will have to let it go. Yes, in life, most of the artistes don’t learn how to let it go. Yes. If I don’t see you, I am not going to hurt you. If I you don’t see me, you are not going to hurt me.”
“So, I will have to excuse you completely.”
“What happened was that one of my friend, my girl friends. She knows my birthday date and she decided to organise the party for me. I don’t know anything about the party.”
“I don’t know anything about the surprise party. My own plan is to go to the prison yard and give them gifts, go to the homeless, place, motherless babies home, visit the less privilege, and give them gifts just to make them happy. That was my plan for the day.”
I did all that and I returned back home. I was about to sleep and my phone rang. She called me. Where are you? Let me and you sit down and have a drink together she said. Oh! I have forgotten. You don’t even drink. Oh. Ok come and buy a drink for me. Let us just sit down and talk. Lets chat, after all its your birthday. Come and buy me a drink joor!. I said ok where do you want us to meet. She said ok. Meet me at so, so and so, so place. I said ok no problem, I will come. I didn’t know their plan. So I went there. She was already outside. She greeted me and said lets go inside. I said lets go to the swimming pool side. She said no, no, no. She will like us to sit in the VIP section. I said that place is dark. There is no light there. She said once you go in they will put on the light. So, we went in and I saw crowd. I saw everybody inside. I said Haa.”
“This is serious. I started to greet people from the left part to the right. I saw people I didn’t expect. Then, I saw Pasuma seated. I was really touched. He left his house to celebrate with me. He came there before me. He was sitted before me. Even if I have anything against him, he has shown me love and respect. Even if I am not happy before, I had to play along. And I have to let the people who hosted us know, I am not an ingrate and I appreciate what they did. Funny enough they said he brought a lovely cake. So what are we talking about. So, I had to follow the trend and make things happen. Some people felt because Atawewe is Mr. No Clinching, I am not going to give him face.”
“I don’t know why people will be thinking backwards. He was there already. And he even got there before me. From a reliable source, they said this guy has been there from a 15 minutes to 7pm and I got to the hall for 10pm. And he still sat patiently and waited for me.”
“So what else do I want from God on my birthday. I had to appreciate him. He tried. I must not behave like an ingrate. What else do I want him to do for me? I am happy. I give kudos to those people behind the party.”
“At the end of the day he said something. He said look at what is happening. You can never ignore a woman’s power. This thing that is happening today, a lot of millionaires want to achieve it but they are not able to achieve it.”
“But look at how it went. Without stress. It does not involve money. It does not involve anything. It just happened. And he said that is how God wants it.”
“We sat down and talked. When you see your friend, and colleague, an old time one that you guys have been close before, before you guys had disagreement, you can imagine how it will be. We talked a lot and everything was fine.”
“As we sat down, Pasuma and I were talking intimately. We were laughing, I was imagining what people are going to say. Immediately we made up, we started seeing their reactions and comment. We had snap chats. We started seeing their comments: This is what we want. This is what we have been praying for. This is good. So, we are both good. We are happy to be friends again.”
