Pastor Dotun Ojelabi is the founder of Covenant Harvest Christian International Ministry, a thriving and fast growing ministry in Lagos. With a mandate to raise influencial leaders. He is married to Adetutu. Below he recollects how they met and fell in love 27 years ago.
“Adetutu and I met 27 years ago at Yemi Akinlawon’s Bachelor’s eve at Texaco Guest House in Surulere, Lagos. It was love at first sight. I was a newly employed Petroleum Engineer in Texaco Overseas, Ikoyi and Engineer Yemi Akinlawon was my boss.
I drove to that party in a sleek white sports car owned by my Chief Partner in Reveling, Dapo Babajide, Orix or Orinoco, an extremely brilliant Mechanical Eengineer turned banker. Credit to Charles Agbalajobi for inviting you.
I did not have an idea of what Providence was playing out for us. The constellation of stars, the moon, the Sun and the Orion were all in perfect alignment with true love. Never shy to ask a babe to dance in a party, I asked you to dance and you agreed and I got stuck to you and wasn’t able to dance with another lady throughout the rest of the party. That was the beginning of our love life. The rest they say is now history.
You have been and still my irresistible left ventricle, fresh like agege bread, caring like the mother hen, addictive like Indomie Noodles, cute and fashionable Unilag chick, that metamorphosed into my only Slay Queen and Personal Physician. You have completely captured my heart from the first day I met you and I still want to be in that captivity of your love forever. I did not waste time to announce to my inner circle that I have found the one I intend to spend the rest of my life with. Yomi Ajisola, Victor Briggs, Jide Odekunle. Dr Femi Olayinka, Tirocco J, F Odex, Kola Gbadamosi,
You all remember the days of Yetunde Brown Street, Gbagada.
My Mum and Dad fell in love with you immediately. Your Mum and siblings also fell in love with me. In the same rhythm and sagacity, the trio, Senior Sister Nike, Bisi and Yinka followed the same direction. They orchestrated and masterminded the coup plot of bringing an Odogbolu princess into an ancient Ibadan Warrior Family.
I called you My beautiful dream until I realized that the dream has been realized. Then, I changed your pet name to Honey Bunchie, Tutsie- Wind beneath my wings, a catalyst of my permanent smile, my control button and My Sunshine that supply Vitamin D and complete my cycle of photosynthesis.
I believe Elohim planted you in my life to aid and accelerate my salvation, prevent my self-destruction from living a life on the edge and collective fulfilment of our purpose. Remember how you met me as a rugged drunk and smoker; party animal full of unprintable social vices radicalized Ibadan boy you call “Papingo” now turned an Evangelist and Prophet. I bless God for the day I met you. I believe providence orchestrated our paths to cross. I thank God for releasing you in my direction and I have had no regrets. I thank you for all you are and have been in my life and want to Say I love you. I thank you for agreeing to marry me 24 years ago and tolerating me. There have been trying times, ups and downs, but God has seen us through the most debilitating and excruciating circumstances.
