HRM, Alayeluwa Oba Muslim Abiodun Ogunbo, the Ogudu-Oshadi 1 of Ogombo Kingdom epitomizes humility, vision, enterprise, compassion, philanthropy and servant leadership. His story is a practical validation of the saying that if a child washes his hands, he dines with the elders. Kabiyesi went about early on in life washing his hands. No wonder today he seats on the most coveted traditional S tool as the King of Ogombo Kingdom.
HRM Oba Muslim Abiodun Ogunbo was born of the 24th of October in the (year) when his mates were born to the family of Nurat Ogunbo and Ayuba Ogunbo in Ogombo. However, he did not enjoy the luxury of parenting having lost his parents within a short interval of one year at a very tender age of 10 years. This reality added additional challenge to his struggle to attain his dreams
To the glory of God, his kind hearted uncle, Alhaji Kehinde Oseni Ogunbo, stepped into his life and, became his foster father as he took over the responsibility of grooming and bringing up the young Abiodun Ogunbo without any form of discrimination or maltreatment upon the passage of Kabiyesi’s biological parents. Thus, it is fitting to say that Alhaji Kehinde Oseni Ogunbo shaped Oba Abiodun Ogunbo to what he has become today.
Despite the setback early in life, young Kabiyesi did not let that weigh him down or distract him from his dreams and outlook to life. Unlike many who would use the death of both parents as excuse to lose focus and direction, Kabiyesi instead used his own situation as motivation to climb to the top of the ladder of success.
After his education, Kabiyesi veered into the property world where he made his name and carved a niche for himself. Today the company he birthed, Ashela Properties Limited, a company founded and run on the cardinal principles of integrity, propriety, efficient service delivery and customer satisfaction is now among industry leaders and household name in real’ estate practice in Nigeria.
Aside Ashela Properties Limited, Kabiyesi is also the founder and directing mind of Ashela Furniture Limited, among other several businesses within his portfolio. Oba Abiodun Ogunbo is an entrepreneur par excellence, a visionary, an investor, a trail blazer who dreams big and pursues his dreams with single-mindedness. Kabiyesi is a wealth creator, a strategist, a philanthropy, community leader and peace-loving.
Aside his entrepreneurial calling, Kabiyesi is a dutiful and dedicated family man married to Olori Rafia Ogunbo and blessed with children. Kabiyesi is also an ardent lover of his people and community. While cutting his teeth in service of mankind and his community, Oba Abiodun Ogunbo underwent apprenticeship in community service from the elders before him. He was always there with them as they went about the affairs of the Ogombo community while he silently understudied them for the social science and practice of community service.
He was not one to shy away from communal service. Having been found worthy by the elders and the broader spectrum of the Ogombo Community, he was appointed family Secretary of Ogudu Chieftaincy Family (now Ogudu Royal Family), a position he occupied for many years until providence thrust upon him the position of the Baale of Ogombo.
It is to Kabiyesi’s eternal credit that he took giant stride to get the Baaleship of Ogombo elevated and gazetted by the Lagos State Government as a government recognized chieftaincy (Baale) in Lagos State.
In their eternal gratitude to him for his unequalled role and contribution to the development of Ogombo Community and philanthropy to the people of Ogombo and even beyond, the youths, young and old with unanimity chose His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Muslim Abiodun Ogunbo as the Oba of Ogombo Kingdom. Consequent upon this gesture by the people and in furtherance of his usual pragmatism, Kabiyesi took decisive action to pursue the creation of the position of Oba of Ogombo with the Lagos State Government so that Ogombo Community would take its pride of place among the communities round and about them.
Whatever Kabiyesi touches turns gold. This magic wand and spirit of Kabiyesi has now found expression in the realisation of the life-long dream of the Ogombo Community that one day, their traditional stool would be elevated to Oba status. The man of the moment, the man of the people, the man of a few words but action minded, HRM. Oba Muslim Abiodun Ogunbo has made it happen. Ogombo now has an Oba and that Oba is Oba Abiodun Ogunbo.
Kabiyesi is indeed a blessing to Ogombo Community. Through his vision, leadership, purposeful action, the story of Ogombo has changed. Ogombo are now a proud people. Ogombo are now proud of their community. Despite his overflowing portfolio, Kabiyesi recognizes that security is the bedrock and catalyst for socioeconomic development. Hence, has always worked with the Ogombo Police of which he was once the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee as he contributes his quota towards motivation of the police personnel and ensuring good htween the police and the community.
