Coronavirus, NCDC, COVID-19, Nigeria,

Do you know that if Covid-19 lockdown had not happened in March many society women would have been in trouble by now? That is the truth.  Many see Covid-19 as a calastrophic pandemic. Permit us to tell you that many celebrity women now see it as a blessing in disguise.

Funny as it may sound, many celebrities feel that this pandemic has saved them from over spending or spending beyond their capacity. Don’t also forget that the pandemic started when the big parties were just about kick starting. Yes! We had already approached the moment when celebrities would have over 5 to 7 events every week. Did you ask if that was possible? Yes, some celebrities attend over 5 to 7 events every week while some attend more. It’s your relevance that is determines how you get access card or invites to most of these events.

Don’t forget that Nigeria female celebrities spend big to look good. It will amaze you to know that many of them spend millions of naira to make sure that they look their best not minding if they will have to drain their purse to achieve that gorgeous look that will make guests turn 360 degrees at Owambe parties. It may amaze you to know the amount these celebrity women spend on their look everyday to attend Owambe parties.

One Lagos Society Woman who doesnt want her name mentioned revealed that, “I have been saved lots of shame since COVID-19 started. This is because I don’t have to be compelled to buy anything out of shame. I dont have to buy some of these our aso ebi which are sold at exorbitant rate. I thank God that I don’t have to buy sourvenirs again. I remember before the pandemic I already have bill of aso ebi which is running into millions of naira.

Make them ‘green’ with envy is the popular phrase while some use the popular words “all for the gram” but all this has stopped now since the pandemic started 3-months ago.

Gone are the days when Owambe party will kick off on Friday, Saturday to Sunday, reverse seems to be the case now as celebrities now use zoom to gather people for their parties.

How has Covid-19 saved many celebrity women from shame you may ask? How has it made some save more? Well, celebrity women don’t spend anything less than millions to appear at this Owambe on each outing. Let’s tell you how we arrived at that conclusion. Let’s gist you that some celebrities buy aso-ebi as expensive as half a million (500,000 naira)  to appear at an Owambe. Yes, some aso-ebis are over 5 hundred thousand naira these days where aso-ebis are sold in dollars for some special occasion and yet celebrities buy.

Some don’t just buy 1, some buy all aso-ebi lined up for each owambe. Some buy aso-ebi for solidarity and support, while some who have exception to buying Asoebi don’t buy but they buy fabrics which are more expensive to appear at Owambe. Some make delight in rocking HOH, HKG, Fresh lace to stand out at parties. Some of these fabrics don’t come cheap, they are luxury collections and yet celebrities buy them to show class at Owambe. What happened in the last 4 months? There was no aso ebi so they were able to save more. Some who would have gone to borrow in order to save face also dont have to do that as there is no party to attend.

Imagine when they have to buy over 4 of these luxury attire to appear at Owambe everyday of the week. They also have to adorn it with best collections of gold to look glamorous. The gold gist will make you laugh. This is a pure case of all that glitters is not gold. Many of these celebrity women will drain their bank accounts to buy 18 carat gold for thousands of naira.

Of course, gold doesn’t come cheap anymore as a gram can go for as high as 22 thousand naira while some go for more if they are “HANDCRAFT“ which are always not common designs. They are rare collections which makes it more expensive than normal Gold. Even some are sold in dollars which sometimes run into several millions of naira. These celebrity women would buy a set of gold of over 1.million naira or 750 thousand naira back then before Covid-19 and with the rate of the dollar to the naira now, this means it costs double the price presently. Of course many have been saved by the Covid-19 as they no longer have to save up huge amount of money to buy expensive fabrics and wear it to a particular Owambe only for a day. And the advent of social media now enables them take pictures to post on their handle. Will it be possible to wear these Gold or diamond after posting on their different I.G platforms and the answer is No. You begin to hear statements like celebrities don’t wear same jewellery over and over again.

Let us also talk about the huge amount of money they spend on makeup. They will not attend an owambe without wearing  lovely makeup, and they don’t just patronize any makeup artist, they use the best hands. When we say best hands, we are talking about the A-list makeup artistes. The makeup costs nothing less than 40k for each party and more depending on the makeup artist. And they might have to do this make 3 or 4 times in a week because that is how much they attend parties in one week, which means they spend close to 200k on makeup every week.

Did we mention how they spend big on designer shoes mostly, Saco shoes? We all know that shoes are equally important as any other accessories in women’s outfit. For this reason, they make sure they buy a pair of Saco shoes that matches the aso ebi that was picked for the owambe. The latest edition of Saco shoes is worth nothing less than 500k. Don’t be amazed, that is how far they go just to look good for owambes. They always want to be the centre of attraction at every owambe they attend.
