As you read this, Ijebu-Ode is bubbling right now, as thousands of Ijebu sons and daughters have converged on the ancient town for the 2022 Ojude-Oba Festival holding today Monday, 11th July, 2022.
Every year, the Ojude Ode festival in Ijebu-Ode usually attracts huge attendance of many big celebrity Ijebu men and women who come to celebrate with others. These are accomplished Ijebu sons and daughters who live abroad and here in Nigeria.
This year’s Ojude-Ode will not be in any way different, as many Ijebu indigenes in the diaspora have flown into the country to be part of the festival. That is why all the major hotels in Ijebu-Ode are fully booked right now. And other Ijebu indigenes in the country are fully prepared.
So, who are those to look out for at this year’s Ojude-Oba? Gov. Dapo Abiodun will be there. He is an Ijebu man.
The first set of celebrities to look out for are the traditional rulers of all the major Ijebu towns from the 6 Local Government areas of Ijebu-Ode LG, Ijebu East LG, Odogbolu LG, Ijebu North LG, Ijebu North East LG, Ogun Waterside LG.
They are all members of Ijebu Traditional Council. These 54 Obas will be at this years Ojude-Oba with their royal paraphenalia.
Next are members of the Council of Otunbas in Ijebuland. They are 53 in number. Otunba Subomi Balogun (Otunba Tunwese & Oloori Omo Oba) will be there.
So also Otunba L.A. Balogun (Otunba Olatoye & Baba Oba). The Chairman of the Council of Otunbas in Ijebuland is Otunba W.O. Osinusi (Otunba Fidipote), Otunba B.A. Alebiosu (Otunba Gbelegbuwa) is the 1st Vice-Chairman, Otunba Akin Osiyemi (Otunba Dedenigbo) is the Secretary, Otunba Lekan Bello (Otunba Atewogbuwa) is the Treasurer, Yeye Otunba Prof. A.M. Osoba (Yeye Otunba Tajogboye) is the Financial Secretary, Otunba Dr. (Mrs.) F.O. Kunu (Otunba Ogunroyega) is the Publicity/Social Secretary, Otunba Seyi Oduntan (Otunba Osigade) is also the Publicity/Social Secretary and Otunba Abayomi Odunowo (Otunba Obalewu) is the 3rd Pub/Soc. Secretary.
There are others like Yeye Otunba Iyabo Martins-Kuye (Yeye Otunba Fesojoye) the PRO/Welfare, Yeye Otunba Adebola Osibogun (Yeye Otunba Obaloja) the Auditor, Otunba Ayodele Osibogun (Otunba Arojojoye) the Assistant Secretary, Yeye Otunba Adetokunbo Belo (Yeye Otunba Atewogbuwa) the Assistant Auditor, Otunba Gbuyi Osibogun (Otunba Fesogbade) ex-Officio, and Otunba F.O. Let us tell you about some members of Egbe Obaneye Obinrin Akile Ijebu. Their Baba Egbe is Aare Kola Oyefeso, rich and successful Ijebu businessman. There is also Chief (Dr.) Mrs. Kuye, the Yeye Bobajoko of Erunwon Kingdom and Iyalode Egbe, Okebunmi Oyindamola Rasidat. The Otun Iyalode is Neye Obabi Sekinatu Olawunmi. The Eta Iyalode is Neye Bamiro Temitope Ayomikun. The Balogun Egbe in Neye Ayoola Fehintola Brat. And the Maiyegun Egbe is Neye Odeneye Eniola, while Neye Aroyewun Olusola is Yeye Obaneye.
There are others like Engineer Babatunde Rufai (Adviser Okunrin), while Chief (Mrs.) Faderera Alli is Adviser Obinrin. She is also the Balogun Egbe Arobayo Obinrin.
Alhaji Kamorudeen Adeniyi Soewu is the Akeweje Egbe. He is also the Agba Akin, Egbe Bobamaiyegun Okunrin Asiwaju Akile Ijebu.
There are 18 Exco members. They include Neye Omolola Ibrahin, Neye Osinusi Abolore, Neye Awodun Deborah Bukola, Neye Sodiq Temitope, Neye Oduwole Sakirat Odusanya, Neye Adesanya Yemisi, Neye Odukoya Ronke and Neye Muka Olawunmi. Other members are Neye Afolashade Osidero Balogun, Neye Mayowa Ashiru, Neye Awokoya Baliquess and others.
There are also members of the Egbe Obaneye Okunrin Akile Ijebu. Alhaji Moriwiyu Olukayode Bakare is the Baba Egbe, while the Iya Egbe is Sakirat Ajoke Agbaje. There is also Mr. Shamsudeen Olaide Onanuga (1st Adviser Okunrin), Otunba Ayo Osisanya (Akeweje Okunrin) and Okubanjo Babatunde Richard (2nd Adviser Okunrin). There is also Alhaja Olafemi Atinuke Adegbite (Akeweje Obinrin).
The Giwa Egbe is Oluwaseye Wasiu Yusuf. The Otun Giwa Egbe is Titilope Gafar. The Eta Giwa Egbe is Omoba Remi Adebowale. The club also has its Council of Chiefs made up of 17 big boys. the Egbe has about 75 members.
How about Egbe Obayori Obinrin Akile-Ijebu? The Baba Egbe is Barrister Opeyemi Agbaje. The Iya Egbe is Chief Mrs. Iyabosola Ninalowo. The Iyalode Egbe is Mrs. Ajenifuja Omolara Adebusayo Arafat.
And Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Olawale Teriba is the Akeweje (Okunrin) Egbe Obayorui Akile Ijebu. The Akeweke Obinrin is Asiwaju Olasunkanmi Kehinde Alebiosu. The Special Adviser (Okunrin) is Alhaji Rasaq Olowu, while the Special Adviser (Obinrin) is Chief Mojibade Yisa Odulaja.
