Sola Sobowale, renowned for her acting prowess in Nigeria’s Nollywood, shared her remarkable journey from the iconic ‘Toyin Tomato’ to working as a caregiver in London.
In an interview on the ‘Teju Baby Face Show,‘ Sobowale disclosed leaving Nigeria in 2004 after her role of ‘Toyin Tomato’ in the popular television drama series ‘Super Story,’ and after 12 years returned for the audition of the movie “Wedding Party” in 2016.
During her time in London, she did various jobs, including caregiving, which she referred to as ‘elevated omo odo,’ before she earned a qualification up to the level of a team lead.
Sobowale said there was a time when she had to deny who she was to people asking questions whenever they saw her doing the menial jobs she was into. Not until she met a Nigerian man named Seye Fadipe who walked up to her and said she looked familiar, which she denied at first but later on admitted and he then advised her to return to acting.
Sobowale said she was willing to do any honest job as long as it wasn’t fraud or prostitution to provide for her family.
Sobowale agreed that she has faced so many challenges in life, despite all, Sobowale resilience and according to her God’s grace have helped her to overcome and accomplish new Success, especially in her upcoming project in Bollywood (Indian movie industry).
